Scorponok desired a means to execute any Nebulan who rose against him, so Skullcruncher and Weirdwolf engineered the alloy in the Grax Communications Facility. As a test subject, Mindwipe hypnotized Monzo, a Nebulan, to have no fear. A device then expanded the bubble around Monzo. The bubble was then shot with Skullcruncher's anti-gravity gun, and it drifted to just outside the building before the bubble burst. Further experimentation was needed, which the Decepticons did.

Later, as part of a trap, the Autobot Headmasters were lured into battle with the Decepticon Headmasters. A group of Nebulans, including Llyra, arrived to observe in a council hovercraft, only for their vehicle to be knocked down in the struggle. Mindwipe took this opportunity and hypnotized the passengers to come into the Facility, where they were all enveloped by polymer alloy bubbles. Scorponok crashed through the wall and bathed the bubbles in an anti-gravity beam. The captives distracted the Autobots, who shot the bubbles to save the Nebulans inside. Distracted, the Autobots left themselves open to Decepticon fire and they were all defeated. Love and Steel!
