Predacon Empire

The Predacon Empire is political unit that was formed by the rising Predacon faction in the era following the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons. It would eventually be replaced by the Predacon Alliance.

The Predacon Empire was formed by Razorclaw after the Decepticons had lost the Third Cybertronian War. He rallied the new Predacon faction to form its own army, and went to war against both the Autobots and their descendants, the Maximals. Over time, the Predacon Empire came close to finally succeeding where the Decepticons had failed, but its victory over the Autobots and Maximals was halted when Razorclaw was suddenly assassinated by three self-serving generals, who seized control of the Predacons for themselves and formed the Tripredacus Council. The Predacons carried on without them, but were fighting a war they could no longer win on their own. The Predacon Empire presumably fell apart afterward, as it was eventually succeeded by the Predacon Alliance (but which was still led by the Tripredacus Council). And yet, despite the war's end and the impending ratification of the Pax Cybertronia, several Predacon radicals refused to lay down arms. These dissenters continued to attack several Maximal outposts and raided defenseless worlds for their resources, aiming to one day destroy the Maximal Imperium and restore the Predacon Empire to its former glory. The Predacon Empire was presumably in power when the Predacons started the Great War against the Maximals, since the Predacon Alliance was formed only after the Pax Cybertronia had brought an end to the war. Evidently, this did not happen, seeing as how the Tri-Predacus Council, who controlled the Predacon Alliance, Beast Wars Glossary: Tri-Predacus Council entry was still in power during the age of the Pax Cybertronia. The Gathering #1

  • The idea of the Predacons having had their own empire that previously went to war against the Maximals is, quite frankly, pretty antithetical to the intent of the Beast Wars cartoon. As early as the first episode, it was said by Optimus Primal, "There has been peace between the Maximals and Predacons for centuries," and later in the episode "Dark Designs", Blackarachnia stated that the Great War between the Autobots and Decepticons was a mere "three centuries ago." There is simply no place for such a warmongering Predacon empire to exist during that time without contradicting either the letter or the spirit of the Beast Wars cartoon.
