Probat (planet)
| This article is about the planet. For the aliens who inhabit it, see Probat (species){{#switch:{{#sub:Probat (species)|-1}} | != | .= | ?= | .

The barren and rocky world of Probat is home to the Probat, a species of flying bat-like sentients. Although bleak and foreboding to the average Cybertronian, the many Probat who inhabit the planet have built cities composed of "homespires," massive roosting towers composed almost entirely out of their own hardened guano.
Fiction
[edit]2019 IDW continuity
[edit]At some point after the Probats evolved their powers of flight, their world was found and claimed by the Transformers as one of their many colonies; the natives would come to venerate Bumblebee, the 'bot who had supposedly "uplifted" them from their humble beginnings. The Senate would construct an energon refinery on the world, put the natives to work mining and processing the fuel, and appointed Natalus as the foreman and chief Cybertronain liaison—whether through outside interference or his own ego, however, Natalus would strip the other Probat of their wings in an act of supplication to his will. Uncaring of Probat's own politics, ambassador Deathsaurus was more interested in ensuring that the Probat produced their regular quota of energon so that he could collect it. Natalus soon grew tired of this arrangement, however, and began to deliberately take a portion of energon for his own people.
The planet had a secret, however: the Probat didn't need to mine energon. Their own waste, when exposed to high heat, could catalyze into an ultra-powerful energon crystal, and it was Cliffjumper who discovered this after Deathsaurus brought him along to pose as "Bumblebee" to provide the natives with a suitable distraction. Wannabee, Part 1 Although Deathsaurus planned to burn down the city entirely and convert all of their homespires into raw fuel for him and him alone, Cliffjumper was able to defeat him by impaling him on his own energon. Returning to Cybertron, Cliffjumper lied that the energon had dried up and he'd had to scuttle the refinery, meaning that there was no reason for Cybertronian to ever return to Probat—with Probat free from the control of Natalus, their tattered wings soon healed and allowed them to take to the sky once more. Notes
[edit]- While Probat is described as a colony of Cybertron, the apparent lack of Cybertronians living there means it would be more accurate to describe it as a protectorate.
