Dr. Rickel was repairing a telescope and looked through it to see driverless cars. He jumped to the conclusion that they were Autobots, but they were the recently built Stunticons Wildrider and Breakdown. Wildrider picked up Rickel, demanding the new laser lenses. After the doctor pointed them out, he was thrown aside, and could only watch as the two Decepticons stole them. When he was later interviewed on TV, he confessed that at first he'd thought the attackers were Autobots, which gave Optimus Prime an idea how to find out what the Decepticons were up to. Masquerade

• Rickel was not named in the English-language version of the episode, and was identified only as an "optics technician" in the script. He was given a name in the Japanese dub of the episode.
