Ricochet is an Autobot-allied Nebulan Targetmaster from the Generation 1 continuity family.

His friends call Ricochet mercurial—to his face. Under their breath, they might mutter manic depressive. Ricochet shifts without notice between a furious passion for combat and sulking, angsty depression, needing to be coerced and cajoled onto the battlefield. His fellow Nebulan Boomer takes it on himself to cheer up Ricochet when this happens. Fortunately, he's good at this.

On Nebulos, Ricochet was a renowned environmental sculptor (think, "landscaping as a fine art"). He takes great pride in his creations, lashing out with a vengeance at those who would deride or defile his work. Needless to say, he responds poorly to criticism.

Ricochet was bio-engineered to turn into an automatic sub-machine gun that fires titanium-tipped, armor-piercing explosive rounds, and subsequently partnered with the Autobot Quickmix. As a Nebulan Targetmaster partner, Ricochet is able to combine with Boomer to increase the power of his own weapon or boost the power of Boomer's sonic pulse cannon.<ref>The Transformers Universe profile for Quickmix, Boomer, and Ricochet in The Transformers #61</ref>

On Nebulos, Ricochet witnessed the destruction of several of his famous sculptures by the Decepticons. Stung by the perceived insult, he signed up to join the Autobots. Quickmix's Universe profile

Ricochet and Boomer were paired with Quickmix on Cybertron during a series of fuel raids with the recently revived Grimlock, Jazz, and Bumblebee. Yesterday's Heroes!

Many millions of years ago, on the planet Cybertron, life existed. But not life as we know it today. Intelligent robots that could think and feel inhabited the cities. Apparently among those robots were the Autobots Landfill, Quickmix, and Scoop, as well as their Targetmaster partners (including Ricochet), who transformed from their vehicle modes and shot at some unknown attackers. G2: More than Meets the Eye, Part 1

Footage from the commercial featuring the Autobot "Double Targetmaster" trio was spliced into the Generation 2 version of the episode by way of the Cybernet Space Cube. Outside of this, the only other "appearance" by the Double Targetmasters in The Transformers was reuse of the same commercial animation in the season 5 title sequence.

Released in the fifth year of the original Transformers toyline (fourth in Europe), Ricochet is a "double" Targetmaster, transforming into an "automatic sub-machine gun" in a mere step and a half: fold the barrel away, stand him up and you're done. He can also combine with any other small Targetmaster to form a super weapon (or really any other accessory with a 5 mm post or hole).
Ricochet was only available packed in with the Autobot Quickmix and the other small partner Boomer.
No version of this character or mold was released in Japan.
