Rite of the Deceptibrand

Welcome to the steakhouse. Now serving: two medium-well idiots.

The Rite of the Deceptibrand<ref>Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac</ref> is a ritual that is used by the Decepticons and involves branding their symbol into a new Transformer after an oath of loyalty is given. The branding is not exactly a painless procedure.

Once the Constructicons had proven their use, Megatron allowed them to undergo the Rite of the Deceptibrand to make them true Decepticons. The oath went as follows:

I pledge my unquestioning loyalty to Megatron and the Decepticon cause. I shall devote my spark to achieving our goal of a Decepticon controlled Cybertron, by any means necessary. And annihilate all who have driven us from our rightful homeworld. Surrender is not an option.

Mixmaster and Scrapper recited the oath of loyalty, in response to which Megatron branded them with the Decepticon insignia. A Bridge Too Close, Part I

The Rite can only be formally and officially performed by Megatron or one of the Conclave. According to Drift, they take a part of the subject's spark casing and mold it into one of their badges. Life After the Big Bang Decepticons-in-training wear temporary "learner plates" until they undergo the Rite and get the real thing affixed to them. Life After the Big Bang

Notes

[edit]
  • During the Rite, the Constructicons also changed color, from a yellow-gray scheme to the traditional green-purple. Whether this is part of the Rite per se is unknown.
