Ex-Brawn

Rollbar is a smart and skilled combatant, but he has no aspirations of greatness—taking on a leadership role is something he just doesn't consider. He's perfectly happy to keep following orders and do a good job.<ref>TakaraTomy Movie Advanced Series Deluxe Class Rollbar packaging bio</ref>

Age of Extinction

[edit]
Almost Unique
  • Breakout Battle (Platinum Edition, 2014)
  • Accessories: Pistol, rifle (combine to form larger rifle)
Platinum Edition Rollbar is a redeco of Generations: Thrilling 30 Skids, and transforms from a robot to a generic hatchback in the white and purple color scheme of Shane Dyson's car from Age of Extinction. Rollbar comes packed with a more screen-accurate redeco of Evasion Mode Optimus Prime and a redeco of Dark of the Moon Deluxe Class Crankcase as a Vehicon.
Rollbar sports two different tampographed sponsor decals, both of which are callbacks to the Alternators line: "Cybertronian Radial" was a fictional brand of tires introduced and popularized by the Alternators line, and "Dinotron Racing Fuel" was previously used as a sponsor marking for Alternators Decepticharge.
The package art for the Breakout Battle set suggests Rollbar was originally intended to have the pretooled head used by Generations Crosscut, which bears an increased resemblance to that of his One-Step Changer toy. Curiously, the stock photo of the toy shows the figure with both the smaller nudge gun in one hand, and the larger combined rifle (made up of the smaller gun and the larger gun) in the other.
This mold was also used to make Timelines Burn Out.

  • Rollbar (Deluxe Class, 2014)
  • Accessories: Pistol, rifle (combine to form larger rifle)
  • Japanese ID Number: EX
The Rollbar toy from the Breakout Battle set was also released with no known changes as a single-carded Toys"R"Us Japan exclusive.
As with many single-packed Takara releases of the era, the backside of Rollbar's packaging includes a bilingual bio in both Japanese and English.

Sure nicer now right?
  • Rollbar (One Step Changers, 2014)
  • Known designers: John Warden (Hasbro){{#if: |, {{{2}}}}}
Rollbar transforms in one step from a robot to a [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Chevrolet Aveo#Second generation (2011–present)|{{#if:Chevrolet Sonic RS|Chevrolet Sonic RS|Chevrolet Aveo#Second generation (2011–present)}}]], performed by splitting the car down the middle and flipping it around itself. Inexplicably, the robot mode of the toy is based on Robots in Disguise X-Brawn.

Notes

[edit]
  • Rollbar is based on Shane Dyson's non-transforming Sonic RS from the Age of Extinction film, which was a coy little red herring when it spent its first few moments of screen time without a visible driver.

Foreign names

[edit]
  • Japanese: Rollbar (ロールバー Rōrubā)
