Sanctuary

The hive-like Sanctuary is concealed deep below the deadly atmosphere of Protos, and is where the Covenant are hidden. Created by Primus, it is filled with miraculous machines, which the Covenant has striven to improve over the ages. Visitors to Sanctuary pass through decontamination and enter the Reflectorium, a completely mirrored meditative chamber, used for self-examination. The Sanctuary also includes the Thesorium, a chamber for theological discussion, research and debate; the Stentorium, where the Covenant's ruling council, the zemstvo meet; and the Covenant's armories, containing crystalline warcraft armed with indescribable weapons.

The nerve center of Santuary is the Observatory. Cloaked spy satellites from across the galaxy beam information to the liquid computers here for collation and analysis. A vast trove of information of all sorts is stored here.

Billions of years ago, Primus used his psionic abilities to create Sanctuary over the course of three hundred thousand years, restructuring it from a portion of Protos's mass. The Covenant he subsequently created lived within it, waiting and preparing for the Point Omega.

In 2005, the Chronarchitect appeared in the Sanctuary to warn of the possible impending Point Omega, caused by the death of Optimus Prime and the appearance of Unicron. The Covenant monitored the situation from the Observatory and prepared their warcraft, but it turned out to be a false alarm.

Just before the Chronarchitect's second appearance, Leonicus returned to Sanctuary to find Libras and Scorpius debating the nature and appearance of evil in the Thesorium, and Aquator's tank rippling strangely. Following the appearance, the zemstvo again convened in the Thesorium and, led by Leonicus, began researching the current situation on Cybertron. Covenant

The information gathered by the Sanctuary's systems pointed to the Predacon Shokaract. Ariex summoned Leonicus from the Reflectorium to see the gathered data, indicating that Shokaract had traveled back in time to the Beast Wars to find the Dark Essence. The Covenant were therefore compelled to leave their warships, which could only fold space, and travel by transwarp. Sanctuary was left abandoned. Paradox
