Sandstorm is an Autobot from the Wings Universe portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Sandstorm is a clone of Sandstorm. A renowned pacifist, Sandstorm is against fighting for the most part, but won’t hesitate to become involved in a battle when he’s being guided by something that he believes in. In these circumstances, his artillery-packed, and speedy helicopter alternate mode come in handy, allowing him to blaze a path through the battlefield with his laser cannons and incredible twin turbine engines.

Even though fighting is something that is often a rarity for this peaceful ‘bot, there has been something tugging at his mind lately telling him that he may actually enjoy the war. After all, maybe it’d be a waste of that heavy duty armor plating to not engage in a few brawls.

Sandstorm is also in charge of the Sandstorm drones, guiding them through battle.

Come on! Why are you all still fighting? You're clearly outmatched.{{#if:|{{{quote2}}}}}{{#if:Sandstorm"A Common Foe"|Sandstorm{{#if:"A Common Foe"|, "A Common Foe"|}}|}}

Wings Universe

[edit]

When Jhiaxus planned his invasion of Cybertron using a cloned army, he chose to give the Autobots and Decepticons one last chance to avoid termination. He constructed a modified clone of the renowned Autobot pacifist Sandstorm and replaced the original with his copy. A sleeper agent, the Sandstorm clone was programmed to use his template's existing reputation for peace to convince his peers to lay down arms and accept the new rule. He failed, and the Machine Wars broke out over Cybertron. Jhiaxus eventually activated Sandstorm's true programming during an encounter at Iacon, after determining his existing general Megaplex was too easily swayed by his template's battlelust. Sandstorm and his newly-revealed force of helicopter clones joined Jhiaxus's forces against Obsidian and Strika's team. Termination

During Jhiaxus’s invasion of Cybertron, Sandstorm faced off against Mirage and Override. Sandstorm boasted that they were clearly outmatched, only for his rant to be interrupted when a serro-gyro mekarach tapped into his power reserves to send out a signal to the resistance’s off-planet allies. Timelines

[edit]
  • Autobot Electrons / Sandstorm (souvenir pack, BotCon 2013)
    • Accessories: MechTech rifle/sword, two missile pods
If I wanna be a Tiger Helicopter, I can be a Tiger Helicopter! At least I don't have to combine with anyone!
Timelines Sandstorm is a redeco of Dark of the Moon Skyhammer, transforming into a made-up assault helicopter that resembles a cross between a [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Eurocopter Tiger|{{#if:||Eurocopter Tiger}}]] and a [[wikipedia:{{#if:|:}}Mil Mi-24|{{#if:||Mil Mi-24}}]], colored in homage to the Machine Wars Sandstorm toy. He features 5mm peg-holes for his hands, one on each of his forearms, a pair under each of his wings, a port on the backs/insides of each of his shoulder cockpit halves, and a port underneath his cockpit.
Sandstorm retains Skyhammer's MechTech gimmick, a large weapons system that converts from a double-barreled rifle to a sword. He also features two detachable missile pods underneath his wings. Both weapons use 5mm pegs, and the MechTech weapon features a peg-hole on either side. As the MechTech weapon cannot be mounted underneath the cockpit without retracting the front landing gear, the weapon itself cleverly features a molded landing gear wheel on the corner of the blade's base.
Sandstorm was only available as a BotCon 2013 at-show exclusive, in a two-pack with Autobot Electrons, limited to 2000 pieces.
This mold was also retooled into Age of Extinction Generations Autobot Drift.

Notes

[edit]
  • Sandstorm's bio describes him as though he were the original Sandstorm, presumably to avoid giving away the reveal at the end of the comic.
