Marissa and Optimus Prime's night at the beach is interrupted.
Synopsis
[edit]On a cold night in Japan, Optimus Prime brings Marissa Faireborn to the beach, using the cover of night to hide from Autorooper patrols. Marissa likes the idea of surfing in the moonlight, but dreams of being able to surf with Optimus in the sunlight. She notices that his shift stick is dirty from the soft serve ice cream she had earlier and cleans it up, and the Transformer can just mutter that it tickles. Thankfully for him, they're finally at their destination. Marissa takes off to surf and orders Optimus to stay put. (But goes back to get her surfboard after realizing she forgot it.) As she runs off, Optimus promises that someday, they'll be at the beach beneath the Sun...
Some distance away, Marissa jumps into the cold water and immediately feels something slimy on her leg! From the distance, Optimus Prime just thinks she's swimming funny because she's gained weight from all the ice cream she's eating and that she should go on a diet. Her screams for help convince him otherwise and, after checking for Earth Defense Command forces around, transforms into action. Getting to Marissa in the water, Optimus investigates the threat, thinking it's just a squid. Marissa thinks she's rescued till the menace reveals itself to be a large octopus! Optimus sees that it's actually a Legion, Parasitech-fused to a shipwreck. The Transformer struggles against the beast and its many tentacles, which threaten to end Marissa's life, but the Kiss Player manages to cut herself free using her mastery of knives. Seeing that Optimus is "leaking" from his wounds, Marissa decides he needs help and kisses him—the two fuse into a stronger warrior. Using the Surfblade made from Marissa's surfboard, Optimus Prime vanquishes the Legion.
Marissa thanks Optimus Prime for saving her yet again, but Optimus points out she also did some saving of her own. They find it's now morning and the two spot an Autorooper. The two hurry to flee, although Marissa spots the Autorooper's partner, a sickly girl left outside the Autorooper after being in the driver's seat. Seeing that the Autorooper is occupied with comforting the girl, Optimus just tells Marissa to jump in and they calmly take their leave. Marissa again asks whether they'll ever play under the Sun; after some prodding, Optimus promises they will, someday.

Notes
[edit]- Optimus Prime's promise to Marissa would end up unfulfilled in the Kiss Players storyline. It would not be accomplished till Unite Warriors Offshot and the Unite Warriors comic, set in 2021—fictionally 15 years later.
