Space vultures are space-faring lizardy creatures which dwell in the asteroid belt. They are able to latch on to passing spacecraft and drain energy out through their tongues. They may be vulnerable to particle beams.

[edit]As Cosmos headed through the asteroid belt towards Andellor, he detected the approach of a number of space vultures. Though his passengers suggested that he fire on them, it was too late—the space vultures latched onto the Autobot and started draining his energy. Cosmos attempted to shake them and ended up ramming nose-first into the side of a small asteroid. Being lodged in the side of the asteroid, his energy was hidden from the vultures, and he was able to fly clear of the flock. Transformers in 3-D #2
