- The spirit portal is a gateway between realities from the Legends portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.
The spirit portal is a bridge between the physical reality and the ethereal plane on which Starscream's incorporeal form is trapped.

[edit]During a particular time period, the barrier between the two planes weakened, opening the spirit portal. Starscream attempted to disrupt the Autobots by using electromagnetic radiation to interfere with their equipment, and organized Ratbat, Fangry, and Weirdwolf to cause havoc so that the Autobots would be nicely distracted when he passed through the portal. Unfortunately for him, the Autobots prevented him from completing his passage through the portal before it collapsed, and he was left in his insubstantial ethereal state. Ghost in the Machine
