Squid Sisters

Callie and Marie, better known as the Squid Sisters, are a pair of Inkling celebrities residing in Inkopolis. In addition to their careers as the news anchors for Inkopolis News, they are also a renowned pop idol duo, often performing for huge crowds in Inkopolis Square.

After receiving word from "on high", the Squid Sisters announced via Inkopolis News that the next Splatfest event would be themed around Transformers. Callie threw her support behind the Autobots, while Marie, finding her goody-goody partner's choice unsurprising, chose to root for the Decepticons, though Callie claimed Marie's jealousy of her team's red shirts was obvious. The Squid Sisters recommended all the Inklings watching pick a side for the competition before resuming their broadcast.
On the night of the Splatfest, Callie and Marie held a 24-hour live concert in Inkopolis Plaza while the Splatfest took place. Upon its conclusion, the two took to the airwaves once more to announce the Decepticon team as the winners of the event. Marie expressed jubilation, while a defensive Callie once again asserted the Autobot team's shirts were better. Reminding the victors to pick up their prizes, the two concluded the rest of their broadcast before retiring to the Inkopolis News studio to converse and occasionally wave at passersby. Splatoon

[edit]- While billed as sisters, the two are actually cousins.
- During Splatfest performances, the Squid Sisters' color schemes change to correspond with the two participating teams. For the Transformers Splatfest, Callie changed to Autobot red, while Marie was clad in Decepticon purple.
- Callie has claimed to be a fan of Optimus Prime, while Marie thinks Shockwave, Soundwave, and Megatronus are the coolest members among the Decepticon ranks.
- Their names are a pun on "calamari", the name for squid as a food item.
