Storm Jet has quite a temper on him. While he's capable of keeping it under control most of the time, when pushed, he becomes death on wings for any Decepticons he sees. His favorite hobby is hunting down enemy fliers with his incredible speed and aerial maneuverability.<ref>Robots in Disguise Storm Jet packaging bio</ref>

One of the final releases in the normal retail 2001 Robots in Disguise series, Storm Jet is a redeco of the Beast Machines Vehicon Jetstorm mold, transforming into a Cybertronic jet fighter. His jet-mode cockpit has a spring-loaded extension, giving him a bird-like head in this form that is articulated at the neck to "search" for targets. Both jet and robot modes feature spring-loaded "energy blast" missiles. He also has an alternate robot mode, which folds his legs into a "flight cone" with revealed jet thrusters. His color scheme bears a resemblance to that of Jetfire. Interestingly, on the underside of his opaque red spark crystal is a molded Vehicon symbol.
Although most previous versions of the mold have the wingtips swept forward in vehicle mode (as shown here), Storm Jet was packaged and depicted in his instructions with the wingtips swept back. Both also show his chest mistransformed, being set wider apart and not locked onto the pegs below his neck. His package also curiously shows his missiles inserted backward, with the tips pointing up.
Storm Jet was released in Japan as a "USA Edition" in Hasbro packaging (with relevant Japanese-text stickers applied), available only at Toys"R"Us stores.
This mold was also used to make the Beast Machines Sonic Attack Jet, Robots in Disguise Jhiaxus, and the 2003 Universe version of Generation 1 Skywarp.
