I don't get it. The the aliens speak Russian? I think there needs to be more explanation why the name of this plant has a backwards "N" in it. - Starfield 20:52, 18 August 2011 (EDT)
- I'm not sure there needs to be an explanation beyond "It's friggin' Russian." --ItsWalky 20:57, 18 August 2011 (EDT)
- Yeah, I'm pretty sure Jim just made it Russian on an amusing whim. If you want to believe that it means the aliens speak Russian, feel free. —Interrobang 21:10, 18 August 2011 (EDT)
Move
[edit]Er, why the move? Now it's Latin script, which isn't coded the same as Cyrillic, with an и in the middle for some reason. —Interrobang 22:07, 1 January 2012 (EST)
- Sorry, I didn't realise there was a difference. The title appears the same as it was before to me. --abates 22:24, 1 January 2012 (EST)
- Some people have their computers set to display different character sets differently, and the two aren't considered the same by stuff like search functions. —Interrobang 23:18, 1 January 2012 (EST)
- Ahh, fair enough! --abates 23:21, 1 January 2012 (EST)

That's no Мир... It's a space station.
[edit]http://tfwiki.net/wiki/%D0%9C%D0%B8%D1%80 says that Мир (Mir) is Russian for "world" and "peace". Is the name of this fictional planet the same as the name of the nonfiction space station? and did the author name the planet after the station or the word? (i'd guess the word, but i'm hoping someone can confirm the Authorial intent.)
