I added Akom's website in External links, but the website doesn't...do anything. It's just a graphic of the logo. Maybe they're still building it or something? --DrSpengler 22:23, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

Odd question, but does anyone have a list of which Season 3 episodes were animated by Toei and which were animated by AKOM? Been kinda curious about that... Detour 00:12, 27 July 2007 (UTC)

  • look for the episodes with flatter colors and a lack of shading and shadows, and tendency to round off what would be represented by straight line, such as the edge optical sensors and the like, and you will see it,going back and watching season Two,the difference in quality of animation switching back and fort between Toei and Akom is patently obvious.

Season 2 episodes

[edit]

Are we sure these three episodes were done by AKOM? According to this interview with production coordinator Paul Davids (which I can currently only access via Google cache, as the Cybertron Chronicle appears to be down), a third studio, from the Philippines, was also used. Three to four weeks 'in-house' to prepare character designs, backgrounds, color models, record voices and edit soundtrack, complete the storyboard, and ship the show to Korea or Japan (and a few times we used an animation facility in the Philippines). Since animation quality varies a lot throughout season 2 (the pinnacle being "Auto Berserk" and "Atlantis, Arise!"), my guess would be that "The Core", "The Autobot Run" and "City of Steel" were done by that unnamed studio from the Philippines (as it was supposedly only used "a few times"), whereas AKOM handled the more mediocre episodes from season 2. I mean, quality-wise, there's a huge leap from the likes of "The Core" to "Five Faces of Darkness".--Nevermore 19:28, 20 September 2007 (UTC)

Have you noticed that backpack on Prime's back? It was on him in Dark Awakining and in The Rebirth. Transfan798 15:14, 14 May 2009 (EDT)
Don't worry dude, we resolved this two years ago. --DrSpengler 15:15, 14 May 2009 (EDT)
I've wondered about that, too. Some sources say AKOM began in 1986, a year after Season 1. I've also seen a Sam Young Animation attached to the G1 show. You can see their name in the Rhino extras on the Season 3 commercial bumpers. It could be an old name for AKOM, or perhaps a third studio. Evan1975 18:02, 20 June 2011 (EDT)
Hmmmm... IMDB attaches Sam Young to Transformers, too, as well as a bunch of other Hasbro/Sunbow productions from the 80s. Perhaps they're the unnamed (but possibly not) Filipino animation studio that did 7 season 2 episodes? --DrSpengler 21:34, 20 June 2011 (EDT)
I found this old article from 2001 on my hard drive that describes the life of Nelson Shin and goes into the origins of AKOM. I can't seem to find it online anywhere anymore. I think some of this info needs to go into the Nelson Shin and AKOM artcles. Evan1975 18:31, 22 June 2011 (EDT)

Hey... about the episodes...

[edit]

I'm putting the list of the AKOM-animated episodes sometime soon... anything wrong with that? --66.82.9.74 11:12, 26 July 2011 (EDT)
