Shouldn't this page be split into G1 and UT pages? Kaje 11:45, 6 November 2010 (EDT)

From the article itself "What specific continuity this version of Big Red inhabited is unknown, as the dimension-hopping Vector Prime narrates the scene without identifying his home dimension." Besides, having two tiny little stub articles for this is kind of silly. --Khajidha 11:49, 6 November 2010 (EDT)

His opening sentence comes *so close* to being a reference to the old "Big Red" SNL commercial. Maybe it could be reworded "He's big big big and he's red red red...and that's how he earned the fan name 'Big Red'. Then go on to explain how he has no official name and that he pulls planes from the sky and crushes them in his fist. 208.61.96.142

Hi folks. New in town. Big Red seems to be a ripoff of Daitarn 3, a Japanese giant robot show from the '70s. http://www.collectiondx.com/toy_review/daitarn_3_diecast_deluxe_set It looks like they basically took Daitarn and put Hound's head on him. Should we maybe mention that somehow in the article? I can get out my Daitarn 3 toy and take some pics if you want. You can even make him wear his backpack in such a way that it has the downward pointing missiles Big Red has. --Ginrai 20:58, 16 January 2012 (EST)

I see similarities, but there are a LOT of things that are different. Chest, shoulders, forearms, knees...the main thing the comparison has going for it is the weird fin-things running down the shins and through the feet. More than anything, it makes me wonder if he's not drawn off some OTHER super robot. Springer might have sought out some other robot toys to supplement whatever he got from Hasbro. This COULD be based on Daitarn, but I'm personally not prepared to say it IS. -LV 21:05, 16 January 2012 (EST)
Hmm, perhaps Zambot 3? http://www.robot-japan.com/images/stories/Clover/Zambot_3_DX/Zanpopy.JPG.jpeg Same designer, IIRC. Not the knees and feet... still has the fin through the leg thing?--Ginrai 21:48, 16 January 2012 (EST)
I'm not seeing any resemblance in any of these, beyond them generally being human-shaped robots and having some red on them. They have more in common with Star Convoy than Big Red. --abates 21:58, 16 January 2012 (EST)

Well, I am not talking about color but specifically shapes of the parts. I've attached a picture with some comparisons, but when I get home tonight I will try to remember to get out my Daitarn toy so I can show how the backpack with the missiles looks like Big Red's.Ginrai 19:37, 18 January 2012 (EST)

I'm not seeing it. Big Red might have been based on some old robot toy, but not these two. The parts don't look anything like Big Red's. Stevo 21:30, 18 January 2012 (EST)
Yeah, I think it's really really stretching beyond the point of belief to say that Big Red looks like either of those two guys. The guy on the left has a square torso with a big shield shape on the front of it and a distorted star-shape. Big Red has a square torso with a triangular section cut out of the bottom and a sorta windscreeny slot. To claim they were similar, you'd have to strip the shapes down to the point where they could apply to virtually any big boxy robot. --abates 21:49, 18 January 2012 (EST)

G1

[edit]

So shouldn't the "(G1)" be removed from the title, since this is the only Big Red page? --flicky1991 08:13, 2 January 2018 (EST)

The soda brand had a Transformers promotion for Age of Extinction, its just nobody made that page yet. Escargon (talk) 09:44, 2 January 2018 (EST)
Well if you're in the know, then might it be useful to stick a disambig up? I, for one, have no idea this existed. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 10:13, 2 January 2018 (EST)
