Talk:BotCon 2004
Were BotCons "officially sanctioned by Hasbro" in the beginning?--G.B. Blackrock 04:17, 13 January 2008 (UTC)
This probably isn't worth adding a "Trivia" section to the article for, but according to TFW2005's podcast (in a discussion of TFcon), they mentioned that none other than Derrick J. Wyatt was at BotCon 2004, before he ever did work on TFA. Very interesting to know! - Malunis T 07:44, 3 August 2009 (EDT)
Hasbro personnel
[edit]Just to clarify, these people were former whatevers at the time? This isn't some misguided attempt to "correct" things after the fact? --Khajidha (talk) 07:47, 6 February 2020 (EST)
Need for page
[edit]Is there any point to keeping this around? This page isn't really illustrative of anything official and we're past the point where this is the only unofficial convention with the BotCon name. Saix (talk) 22:33, 10 May 2021 (EDT)
- Seems like mostly the only reason to keep this would be as part of detailing BotCon history, but that could probably be better done in notes on the BotCon page. I'd like there to be more input from people before we go ahead and delete it though. --abates (talk) 17:23, 31 December 2021 (EST)
- BC04 was worth listing as an exception, when it fell during the recognized lifespan of official cons, and was run by the respected old team before a lot of the bad blood got stirred up, and had an unprecedentedly high-quality unofficial exclusive. Part of me still feels like it should be included, but if the only way to do that is to arbitrarily declare we like '04 more than '22, then we may have no choice but to delete the page and recategorize the info as Abates suggested. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 17:42, 31 December 2021 (EST)
- I feel like the BotCon 2004 page provides some context on the schism in the latter 3H years in contrast to how diversified fan conventions have become in the post-Fun Publications years. For that much, I am inclined to make an exception because this page has endured so long. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 17:47, 31 December 2021 (EST)
