Talk:Bots of Science
So I picked up the "Adventures in Reading" version of Bots of Science, which I skipped last week because I assumed it was just a reprint of the "Arrival" issue. Nooooooooooo. It is noooot. There's a whoooole lotta cameos in here, the worst of which is the unnamed appearances of guys who look like RID Prime and Cybertron Megatron. So, uh, what do we call THOSE pages? --ItsWalky 18:21, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- "Fire Convoy (Animated)"? :P --abates 18:41, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Yeah, but what about Megatron? I guess maybe he's, uh... Master...(Animated).... --ItsWalky 18:59, 20 October 2010 (EDT)

Lots of guys get pages! Scorch, Boss, Override (another one!), Swerve, Slapdash, Slamdance, Motormaster (reading an issue of CSI), Snapdragon I think... --ItsWalky 19:02, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- I count Oil Slick, Guy Who Probably Isn't Bumblebee Because He Has Tiny Spikes On His Head, Override, Scorch, Grey Boss, Teal Storm Cloud, Guy Boo Made Up, Fire Convoy, Screaming Guy Boo Made Up, Swerve, Blue Prowl Clone Boo Made Up, ... Tarantulas?, Slamdance, What Seems To Be A Miscolored And Mis-Symboled Misfire, Flattop, Master Megatron, and... Some Red Guy. --Monzo 19:43, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Oh. And Slapdash, but I guess it could be Road King, because it seems to have the toy head. --Monzo 19:47, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Nah, he's got a mouth. That makes him Slapdash, since Slapdash is not always drawn with his totally-made-up head in America, but sometimes with his toy-head-but-with-a-mouth. --ItsWalky 20:12, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- WTF? How else is this different from the comic? Is there all-new art throughout, and new dialogue too? --Thylacine 2000 20:40, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- And, okay, directly above Swerve, is that Armada Dead End? Meanwhile, that giant monster in the top-right, allegedly "Tarantulas," leaves me utterly stumped.... --Thylacine 2000 20:47, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- No, the guy above Swerve is Guy Boo Made Up, as indicated. --Monzo 20:54, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- I think "Tarantulas" is the [Spider Double Pretender].--Spin-Out 21:56, 20 October 2010 (EDT)

Best of my ability... Oil Slick, Bumblebee, Override, Scorch, Boss, a teal Skyhopper or Storm Cloud, Fire Convoy, Sentinel Supreme, Dead Blue Guy, Swerve, Blue Prowl Clone, Spider-Bandito Double Pretender, Slamdance, Flying Yellow Autobot Thing, Motormaster, Apeface, Slapdash, Master Megatron and Dying Red Guy. The Blue Guy, Yellow Thing and Red Guy might be existing characters as well but it's hard to tell from what we see of them. (also, what is Motormaster reading?) --Detour 22:01, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Oh, and is that Cyclonus flying in the background? --Detour 22:02, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Nice catch. That's totally Cyclonus. Antimatter 22:37, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- I... really don't think so. The shape matches both Cyclonus and Starscream. Backwards-wings are not something exclusive to Cyclonus in Animated. Besides, not only is Cyclonus not existing yet when this story occurs, but everyone in this two-spread dies because of Cosmic Rust. (Except Oil Slick, of course.) It's just a generic jet. --ItsWalky 22:43, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Oh, well... the longer nosecone is definitely Cyc's territory, though. And Starscream & co have tailfins that are absent from this jet. But it is also lacking the thrusters Cyc has on his jet mode wings, though. So... might be neither. --Detour 23:13, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Regardless, it can't be anybody who showed up elsewhere, because the whole point of this story is that everyone here died. --ItsWalky 23:35, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
- Yeah, I gotcha. Oh, and judging by the forehead detailing, I'm starting to think the blue guy with his head cracked open might be Cybertron Armorhide. --Detour 23:38, 20 October 2010 (EDT)

- Also, I think the red guy getting killed by Master Megatron might be Cybertron Skids or Swerve, going by the head detailing and what appears to be exhaust pipes on his forearms. --Detour 23:13, 20 October 2010 (EDT)

So, between the penciller & colourist's notes on DeviantArt & the Allspark, that gives all but three names (notwithstanding duplicate character names):
- ISN'T Storm Cloud according to the colourist
- Is probably nameless
- Is completely unidentifiable, to all intents and purposes

Featured Characters
[edit]Aren't featured characters usually... featured characters? Not cameos? (BTW, I had fun discussing this page with Boo. I'm glad to see that it's hit the fan consciousness.)--Jimsorenson 13:22, 17 November 2010 (EST)
- From what I see on other pages for Animated, IDW Comics, Marvel Comics, etc., "Featured Characters" refers to every identifiable (ie non-generic and with a name (or without a name but with a story role)) character. So if, say, Ultra Magnus is walking down a hallway and there's a generic with no name, toy or anything... he won't be listed. But if Rattletrap is next to the generic, he'll get mentionned. --Detour 13:46, 17 November 2010 (EST)

I see Wide Load, Some sort of Tank, Whirl, Lightspeed (kind of obvious) and what I think is a Targetmaster --82.39.157.220 04:54, 18 June 2011 (EDT)
- Counterclockwise from lower right: Whirl, unknown, Lightspeed, Warpath, Wideload, Strafe, and unknown (possibly Nosecone?). --Khajidha 10:47, 18 June 2011 (EDT)
