Talk:Commercial/Beast Wars

"Curiously, and despite being the largest Beast Wars toy, Optimal Optimus does not appear to have gotten a commercial." YES HE DID! I distinctly remember seeing a commercial for his toy that involved his Beast Mode gorilla form stomping down on and crushing a Transmetal Terrorsaur toy into a pile of white gravel. It was brief scene and immediately cut to shots of his other modes, but was one of the initial scenes shown of this toy in this commercial. The reason I mainly remember this part of the commercial is because it was the only commercial to ever feature the Transmetal Terrorsaur figure at all (even if it wasn't advertised alongside OpOp in the commercial). --Sabrblade 01:50, 6 March 2011 (EST)

I thought Optimal Optimus would've been a likely choice for a commercial. But seeing as I hadn't found any recordings or reference to such a thing having existed, I wrote the above sentence. If someone else will testify to the existence of that commercial, then I'll go ahead and change that line and add an entry for the ad. If we can come up with a recording that would be even better. --Tigerpaw28 13:22, 6 March 2011 (EST)
Thinking about it more. I recall another detail from the commercial in question. As Beast mode OpOp was crushing Terrorsaur, his back cannons were folded down onto his shoulders pointing forward instead of sticking straight up. I remember this because that was the first time I had ever discovered that his cannons could fold down in beast mode and light up his gorilla eyes with the central red light.
As for tracking down a recording, I do have at least two VHS tapes of old Beast Wars reruns. However, I have already rewatched one recently and the only commercials for Beast Wars it had were for the cartoon's third season episodes and no toy commercials. I can check the other tape when I get the spare time to rewatch it as well. though, even if I find it on that tape, I haven't the means to upload it to YouTube from the tape. --Sabrblade 16:54, 6 March 2011 (EST)

A detail

[edit]

The Note part on the Transmetal 2 says some things I find wrong. "This commercial marks the shift from using real-time figure transformations to fast motion transformations. The segments are marked as "Sped-Up Footage" in this commercial. Subsequently, they would be marked as "Fast Motion" or "Fast Motion Sequence". Apparently, it was also thought necessary to mark part of the Dinobot segment with the disclaimer, "Props not included"." First, the fast motion transformation was already being used since the Magnaboss and Tripredacus ad, and being marked as such. Also, the "Props not included" thing is older too: the commercial for Transmetal Optimus Primal and Megatron haves a "cans not included" notice, and many 1993 ads for Generation 2 toys have a "City playset is not for sale" mark over them. --Phantom Dusclops'92 (talk) 13:31, 7 July 2015 (EDT)
