Er, is this Soundwave's shoulder cannon or his handheld gun? This article seems a bit brief. --abates 19:47, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
- Its his handheld gun, Jalaguay brought it up when he edited my Electro Bolter aticle so i improvised-Shado Prime 19:53, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
- I thought it was his shoulder cannon. According to Soundwave's instructions, he has a "concussion blaster gun", a "rocket launcher" and "3 rockets", which suggests the rocket launcher is his handheld gun. Soundwave (G1)/toys says it's his shoulder cannon too. --abates 20:22, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
edit or delete the page as you please, i care not, like i said before Jalaguy brought it up so i improvised--Shado Prime 22:00, 27 April 2013 (EDT)
- I went off the TF Universe extended bio, which says he's got a concussion blaster-gun and a directional radiowave sensor, and figured the handheld thing was more likely to be the gun. The instructions can sometimes be kind of dodgy about deciding what's what - for instance, Whirl's claim the weapon that looks like quad missile tubes is his photon beam rifle whilst the long, gun looking accessory is his four incendiary shell cannons. I guess it depends whether we take instructions as gospel or not. Jalaguy 03:51, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
- Well, that's confusing. Hmm, his MTMTE entry says it's his handheld gun too. I guess that must be the right way around then! --abates 04:13, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
- The TF Universe bio is a bit odd. It says he carries the high-amplification directional radiowave sensor and the concussion blaster-gun. It doesn't sound like either of them is his shoulder weapon. Maybe he was originally supposed to have another accessory? Did the microphone that came with the Japanese toy interact with his robot mode in any way? A microphone would do a good job representing a radiowave sensor. Fortunately his bio is worded in such a way that I can creatively interpret it to mean that what he carries is actually a (combination) high-amplification directional radiowave sensor and a concussion blaster-gun. - Starfield 23:11, 28 April 2013 (EDT)
- Apart from "carries" often being used to mean "other than in one's hands", both of Soundwave's weapons are capable of being hand-carried (at least originally, which is what all this fluff text refers to) and I think conflating both things into one weapon is unsupported by the canon. I also don't think the instructions are quite comparable to the Whirl example, since that lists both weapons but misattributes them. If we assume the weappon that actually "fires" the rockets is the rocket launcher, that leaves the shoulder weapon as the CBG. If MTMTE flatly contradicts that, then I don't know that we can rightly claim which one is "definitely" the CBG. (I also don't know that we have to assume the radiowave sensor is either weapon.) -LV 09:09, 29 April 2013 (EDT)

Aha, I added a note while reworking the page and only just noticed this discussion - I was looking for examples of the hand-held gun being definitively called as such, so I'll add in the MTMTE link. --Emvee (talk) 06:55, 8 September 2017 (EDT)
