Ask Vector Prime
[edit]The Gargent refugees in Uprising have not been identified by name. Many GoBots names have been used in other realities which are not, to our knowledge, the original GoBots characters: Crasher (SG), Cop-Tur (G1), Cy-Kill (TransTech), etc. If the currently ongoing GoBots Fun Pub stories confirm Vamp and Creepy are Renegades, then its official. Until then, it's only an implication worth noting. --Xaaron (talk) 15:13, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- Stop being mindlessly pedantic. Jim wrote both things and took the time to specify the exact universe; the implication is clear and straightforward. Saix (talk) 15:53, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- Exactly. It's an implication only -- it's not confirmed yet. When it's confirmed, then you can say it's official. The implication that Tarn and Roller are the same being in IDW is clear and straightforward, too...but they will remain on separate pages until and unless that implication is officially confirmed. --Xaaron (talk) 16:08, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- I'd say this is more clear than James Roberts hinting something that may or may not happen, and also specifically mentioning they're masquerading as Predacons-which the only Gobot names that have shown up are Predacons. Escargon (talk) 16:11, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- Yeah, I'm on the side of "don't treat anything that hasn't been explicitly or very clearly implicitly confirmed as true", here. It's fine with the GoBot part as a trivia note. I didn't want to put Autonomous Maximus as the Last Autobot until Vector practically said "yes, that is what I was implying", so... --Riptide (talk) 16:41, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- @Escargon: It's not an issue of how clear an implication this is, but that it IS still just an implication. And one in ongoing fiction, no less. It's not our place to say, "Oh, I know where this is going", and jump to the end. We're not ignoring the idea by putting it in the Notes section. It's not being removed from the page. It's just the proper place to put unconfirmed information.
- I'm sure of this, because I came to this page without knowing about that AVP answer. I saw "Ask Vector Prime says Creepy was one of the GoBots who arrived in BWU." I looked up the AVP response to find out who the other GoBots in BWU were, only to find that AVP doesn't actually say that. Acknowledging it in the Notes gives the information its proper weight -- it's probably true, but no one's said so for sure yet. --Xaaron (talk) 17:03, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- @Xaaron: If something's heavily implied to the point where it's all but confirmed, I think it should be added. Compare this to say, Jetstream: Whirl never EXPLICITLY mentions that name, but it's pretty friggin' obvious it's meant to be him. Hell, that's what whole Ulchtar debate boiled down to, and I'm amazed that it's still it's own separate article. As for your points, Riptide, VP responded basically with "Yeah, I'm pretty certain we all already know who it is. Why did you bother asking?"
- Sometimes, a cigar is just a cigar, people. Escargon (talk) 17:15, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- Not really the same at all. Jetstream and Whirl perfectly match each other. Jetstream was described in Bullets as an angry and unstable flight instructor who changed his name. Whirl is angry and unstable and, in MTMTE #6, mentioned he was a flight instructor who changed his name. You're saying "Renegades went to BWU, therefore any character with a Renegade name in BWU MUST be a secret Renegade". --Xaaron (talk) 17:38, 26 January 2016 (EST)

As long as we're all arguing over the implications of this Ask Vector Prime post, perhaps a link to said post would be helpful in making sure everyone is on the same page -Foffy the Sheep (talk) 17:15, 26 January 2016 (EST)

- Right, so here's what we're working with: Vector Prime said, "I've noticed that a small band of the GoBots have traveled to Primax 209.0 Gamma and blended in with the Predacons". Then, two BWU stories name-dropped Creepy and Vamp as present. They had no speaking roles, no shifty behavior, nothing other than a name to connect them to Gargent cluster. As written, the article current says "Ask Vector Prime said Creepy dimension-hopped from Gargent to Primax 209 Gamma." AVP does not say that. Again, leave it on the page. Say in the Notes it's the obvious conclusion to draw. But don't say official sources have already confirmed it, when they haven't. --Xaaron (talk) 17:38, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- Do you seriously need Jim/AVP to hold your hand? This is the same logic as saying we can't put mentions of "the Constructicons" on individual character pages because they're not explicitly named; we can recognize obvious inferences that the author clearly meant without being obnoxiously pedantic about it. (I feel like introducing a "Hammerstrike test" now. If it's more obvious than that...) Saix (talk) 17:52, 26 January 2016 (EST)
- I think people are patting themselves on the back too hard over "Look what we can figure out for ourselves!", that they're refusing to draw the line between "This is an assumption we've made" and "This was stated in fiction". How can I make this clearer?
- "Fiction" is where things stated in fiction should go.
- "Notes" is where observations about things indicated in fiction should go.
- This...is an observation. I hate suggesting this on principle, but if you want to take this to AVP for clarification, do so. But I don't think "Vector Prime" will answer you, because these involve details about ongoing plots in the two active Fun Pub universes. It'll be an "outcome hazy; try again later" answer. We're not supposed to know who the BWU infiltrators are yet, officially. Just like Mesothulas's obvious identity over the last two months isn't being added to the Wiki until this week's issue, obvious conclusions about Fun Pub's ongoing stories shouldn't be listed as True(TM) until they, y'know, actually are. --Xaaron (talk) 18:06, 26 January 2016 (EST)

I just made a compromise edit to Creepy. What do we think? --Xaaron (talk) 18:27, 26 January 2016 (EST)
