Talk:Cybertron Alliance

I remembered that it was specifically a single Decepticon that died (rather than a ship-full), but not the exact circumstances beyond him apparently being killed by humans. I think this was up at Hydra's old site? --Monzo 03:53, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Yeah, I was wrong on the ship part. I was looking at Hydra's site via the Wayback Machine and without pics I misinterpreted some stuff. The translation doesn't mention if the Decepticon was anyone significant, and since I'm onlygoing by Hydra's description of the art (since none of the pics work), Megatron was apparently craddling the corpse of the ead Decepticon in his arms, like theyw ere very important to him or something. Shit, I *want* those story pages!! --DrSpengler 04:19, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

To Faction or Not to Faction

[edit]

As there has been some debate on this topic in the discord I thought it best to formally lay things out here and get a poll going. The question:

In light of the Generations Selects comic fully illustrating the second Cybertron Alliance introduced int the Legends comic's epilogue as an organization on panel, do we want to
A) give it the full faction treatment with insignias and categories on character pages for those who appear, or
B) leave it more as a sort of abstract governmental body?

I'll try to summarize some of the arguments raised on the discord:

Against:
[edit]
  • It's more of a coalition than a faction unto itself.
  • The members keep their old insignias in the second Cybertron Alliance.
  • Autobots are more or less grouped with Autobots and Decepticons are more or less grouped with Decepticons in Alliance crowd shots.
  • The inter-Alliance debate about whether to back the Selector uprising breaks down along Bot/Con lines.
For:
[edit]
  • It has an insignia.
  • The insignia is used for both the first and second Cybertron Alliance even if members only wear it on their bodies in the first.
  • The Cybertron Alliance acts as one united front against various threats down to individual Bot/Con collaboration for the entirety of the Generations Selects comic.
  • We've done more for more tenuous factions (Liege Maximo's Maximals in the 2005 IDW continuity for example).
  • If we make a consistent policy of documenting subgroups with their own insignias etc it stands to reason we should give supergroups the same treatment.

One last thing of note: We are presently listing the Cybertron Alliance as a faction on the pages of the three confirmed members of the first Cybertron Alliance.

Thoughts? I will say I am personally of the opinion that we should either add both iterations of the Cybertron Alliance to character pages or remove both but not keep one.

Put me down as a tentative "for". Grum (talk) 10:50, 31 July 2021 (EDT)

Update to this: We've determined the Builders represent a pretty thorough precedent for this so we're gonna see about roughly mirroring that category/cast list/etc organizational scheme if there are no major objections.
