Toy Inclusion
[edit]Just a question I have about including all versions of the characters on a page like this. Yes, the original toys of Whirl and Roadbuster are referred to as Deluxe Vehicles, but since it's a toy designation, and not an actual team (like say, Protectabot or Wrecker), would all toy versions of the characters belong here, or just the original toys. Not all versions of Bumblebee would go on the mini vehicle page.Riddlerj 19:54, 15 January 2011 (EST)
- I think you have the right idea. This page appears to have been treated as though "Deluxe Vehicles" was used in fiction to denote the team of Roadbuster and Whirl. However, nothing on the page shows that that designation was used in such a manner. In lieu of any evidence to the contrary (and I suspect there is none), this page should probably be pared down quite a bit. Reduce the toys to just the G1 molds and probably cut the fiction section altogether. --Tigerpaw28 20:16, 15 January 2011 (EST)
- I can agree about the toys, I disagree about the fiction. My stance on "toy-only" subgroups is that they are a fictional subgroup too if the fiction displays an effort to make the members operate alongside each other. The DV's being only a two-man band, that's not as easy to argue for as, say, a ship full of "not"-Mini Vehicles, but I think Whirl and Roadbuster are paired up enough to call 'em a unit, even outside of Wrecker context. As for the toys, I added all because A.) I'm not sure what the definition of "Deluxe Vehicle" is, B.) I'm not sure whether the other toys are new bodies or re-interpretations of old bodies, C.) lots of subgroup pages list later toys that are never said to belong to that group. They can be removed for all I care. Geewunling 04:31, 16 January 2011 (EST)
- I agree with Tigerpaw28, "Deluxe Vehicles" seems like a toyline only grouping. Our model for this page should be Autobot Cars. --Khajidha 10:53, 16 January 2011 (EST)

- Exactly, the Autobot Cars article is the PERFECT template for this. The fiction section and toys that were not from 85 should GO. They have no buisness on a toy only group page. Find this term used in fiction and that stuff can be added back, but if it isnt that stuff doesn't belong here. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.28.76.206 (talk • contribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.
- If it is, I wouldn't know of it. However, I don't recall the following groups to have been named in fiction either: Jumpstarters, Crossformers, most Pretender subgroups, Obliterators, Laser Cycles, several G2 groups come to think of it, Action Master Elites. - Then, theoretically, they should be fixed too. That a few other pages are done wrong too, doesn't magically make this one right. (Also the difference between Deluxe Bots/Autobot cars and say Jumpstarters is that being a Jumpstarter means something in-fiction it refers to a power/gimick the character has. Like being a Pretender. But the D.A.s like the Bot Cars category is basically a "size class" a toy grouping catagory that has no meaning or reflection in fiction. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.28.76.206 (talk • contribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.
- The anon has hit it on the head. There is something to say about those groups fictionally, there is some difference in their structures that distinguishes them from other TFs. What makes the group of Whirl and Roadbuster different from any random pair of Autobots? Even if that is not deemed important, how are their operations as Wrecker members relevant to the grouping of just them? Not to mention the Battle Card game section which concerns Whirl as an individual and not as a member of the DVs or even the Wreckers. --Khajidha 19:08, 16 January 2011 (EST)
- I'm still not sure why this page has a fiction section. All of the UK material deals with them as members of the Wreckers, as does all the DreamWave material and all but the first sentence of the IDW material. The Marvel books section deals solely with Roadbuster. Seems that this material is better covered on their individual pages and the Wreckers' page. Has any fiction ever specifically referred to these two as "Deluxe Vehicles" or dealt with them as an established duo that is not a simple subset of the Wreckers? Those are the sorts of fiction this page should cover (if they exist). This really seems like a toyline only thing like Autobot Cars. --Khajidha 10:26, 24 February 2011 (EST)
- I sort of agree. Unless someone wants to do an Autobot Cars fiction section. --ItsWalky 11:30, 24 February 2011 (EST)
- Oiy, what a nightmare THAT would be. But yeah, I still stand by my original opinion that unless the term "Deluxe Vehicles" shows up in some fictional context, it's merely a toy grouping like size classes. Out of curiosity, why do you only "sorta agree" Walky? --Tigerpaw28 14:13, 24 February 2011 (EST)
- I am fairly confident I am not going to win this battle, but for the record, I wouldn't mind writing an AC fiction section if someone could provide me an angle. The ACs are pretty much all over the place, the DVs not. Similarly, I've been wanting to do a better fiction section on the Mini Vehicles (but other stuff keeps getting in the way), since they do get paired up often in a way I can write about.
