Moved discussion from Eddie Fairchild and Matt Conroy (G1)

[edit]

Isn't slapping three disambiguation templates here a wee excessive? Is anybody going to end up here looking for other "Eddies"? Saix (talk) 19:18, 19 August 2015 (EDT)

If there's a relevant disambiguation, I see no point to not using it. --Monzo (talk) 19:49, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
Is "here's a list of random people who happen to also be named 'Ed'" actually that relevant? It's not like Transformers characters where identical names usually indicate an archetype. What benefit is there for ordinary human names? Saix (talk) 20:39, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
You seem to have missed that this is a standard practice. --Monzo (talk) 21:22, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
I'm not disagreeing with the existence of disambiguation pages. I'm asking what exactly the point is in putting {{disambig3|Ed}} on pages like this. "We do this" doesn't actually explain anything. Saix (talk) 21:38, 19 August 2015 (EDT)
We do it because it's useful. If you don't like it here, you probably won't be on this page again, so I have faith you can eventually put time and distance between yourself and your dissatisfaction. --ItsWalky (talk) 22:30, 19 August 2015 (EDT)

I'm less concerned with three templates, and more with the notion that this needs to be two pages at all. The G1 guys actively don't exist, I think they should probably have remained a note on the Animated page. - Chris McFeely (talk) 05:41, 20 August 2015 (EDT)

The page for the G1 guys has been here since forever, it's the Animated page that's the new one! --abates (talk) 07:25, 20 August 2015 (EDT)
You know what I mean! :-P - Chris McFeely (talk) 04:27, 21 August 2015 (EDT)
