Talk:Emissary (BW)

[edit]

I'm pretty sure the Emissary referenced in Head Games is the medium-sized RID guy, not the small-sized Titan Master. Note the structure of the quote: "I am Plasma, but I’m also Galen, and Spike, and Daniel. I am Cerebros, who is Zebres, who is Emissary." That's a list of 'regular' Headmasters (Plasma, Galen, Spike, Daniel) and a list of forms-Fort-Max's-head guys (Cerebros, Zebres, Emissary). I'm pretty sure we should just treat Titans Return Emissary as Spike, just like all the other renamed-from-G1 Titan Masters like Haywire/Hyperfire and Hi-/Apex. I expect that just treating TR Emissary as Spike probably isn't going to work when his bio and/or comic appearances make him a clearly-not-a-Witwicky robot guy. --KilMichaelMcC (talk) 07:50, 15 May 2016 (EDT)
I was following the pattern of "Side Burn (G1)" and "Sky-Byte (G2)" when I created this page, but I suppose I can be persuaded that BWU Emissary goes back to RiD2001 Emissary's page. I find Kil's prediction about Titans Return Emissary's nature to be more likely, though. He's not looking to me like he's a version of the established organic character. S.H.I.E.L.D. Brave

[edit]

Am I missing something? If Savage is the head of Brave who's the head of Fort Max, then surely Brave is a renamed Cerebros, instead of Emissary? --Riptide (talk) 10:06, 5 September 2016 (EDT)

I figured "Brave" was meant as a name analogue of CR Brave/RiD Emissary. Also, isn't G1 Cerebros a pacifist in every story we have ever seen? S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 10:11, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
Brave... who was... CR's equivalent to Cerebros, yes, even if his English name was used for not-Spike? I don't see what's served by having him here. --Riptide (talk) 10:26, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
Huh? G1 Cerebros mould = RID Emissary = CR Brave, G1 Spike mould = RID Cerebros = CR Plasma. I think you have your names mixed up. Jalaguy (talk) 10:30, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
Yes. By which I mean that this Brave is more clearly an analogue for G1 Cerebros/RID Emissary/CR Brave, rather than G1 Spike/RID Cerebros/CR Plasma/Generations Emissary. The name used for Generations Emissary is, to my mind, irrelevant. --Riptide (talk) 11:17, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
I'm confused. Now which issue are you addressing? S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 11:25, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
I'm... not sure. I've confused myself. Tl;dr: The middle stage guy of G1 Fortress Maximus, renamed after the middle stage head of Brave Maximus, should probably go on the page of the middle stage guy of G1 Fort Max and not the small stage guy. --Riptide (talk) 11:30, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
Small stage info is gone from this page now. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 11:32, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
Okay, I think this new revision just makes things worse. Emissary is a separate dude who was plainly renamed so that Maximus's head's head wouldn't be Spike, so having all his information solely on Spike's page doesn't fix anything.
New suggestion: the Facebook "Brave" stuff goes on RID Emissary's page, the Titan Master goes back on here, and we all stop this ridiculous furniture shuffling. --Riptide (talk) 11:35, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
This page is now exclusively middle stage Primax guys who are neither the pacifist character archetype nor the small stage G1 toy archetype. How is that not consistent with our policies? S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 11:39, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
God. I don't know. This all seems overly finnicky. Incidentally, IDW Cerebros isn't the pacifist archetype, so I don't really see why that excludes Brave being on that page, but... whatever. Do we need an Emissary (TR) page, then? --Riptide (talk) 11:42, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
TR Emissary is very plainly a new toy of Headmaster Spike. Like, that is what it's a toy of. Not having it on Spike's page amounts to hiding a toy of a character from the casual fan for neurotic nerd reasons. This article is now just G1 versions of the middle-stage RID guy, which actually makes sense. Jalaguy (talk) 11:48, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
Hence why I said "just" Spike's page. Sure, the toy should be on there, but as far as the fiction goes, he's an entirely different thing. You yourself were advocating duplication of information where relevant. --Riptide (talk) 12:50, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
I wouldn't argue against an Emissary (TR) with duped info, honestly. But having the TR stuff on this article just made it feel schizophrenic, IMO. Jalaguy (talk) 12:55, 5 September 2016 (EDT)

Incidentally, regarding Uprising Emissary, I think we wouldn't need to put a repurposed toy. Uprising Plasma had her color changed to avoid redundancy and make an RGB trio, so that would make a conceptual Uprising Brave/Emissary stage a different color, yes? Plus, there's Zebres; hypothetically Zebres still has the original toy color. S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent 47 (talk) 12:05, 5 September 2016 (EDT)
