Talk:Garro

Hmmmm .... since Garro (and Comb) both appear in The AllSpark Almanac with alternate spellings, shouldn't we be placing these articles at Garo and Com? Don't we usually go with the official English spelling? I realize that I was working from the old understanding of the word that didn't take into account the (AWFUL, AWFUL) puns, but still ... --Jimsorenson 09:39, 25 December 2009 (EST)
- Are they the same planets? Cross-continuity? I mean did Swindle travel to the Beast Wars Neo continuity or something? - Starfield 10:00, 25 December 2009 (EST)
- They are the same planets, yes, and we don't generally have two different articles for places in different continuity. No Iacon (G1) and Iacon (Animated), right? And the planets never were named in roman characters in the BW Neo show or magazines.--Jimsorenson 10:19, 25 December 2009 (EST)
- It isn't quite the same. The original planets were essentially nameless as far as English fiction was concerned. So it would be like if Iacon was nameless in English and only called "Iacon" in Japanese until Animated named it "Iacon" in English later on.
- If they are the same planets than I say yes, they are getting their English names for the first time. If they are the Animated continuity versions of those planets, then you would have a situation where the Animated continuity versions were named in English while the Beast Wars continuity versions were nameless in English. I'm not sure sure what then, two pages? Garro and Garo? - Starfield 10:48, 25 December 2009 (EST)
- Oh God, we are not making two pages for Garro and Garo and Comb and Com. No no no no no no no. No. --ItsWalky 12:11, 25 December 2009 (EST)
- Agreed. It just doesn't work that way at all. 'Animated continuity versions of the planets' is not a concept that we generally entertain. Places, organizations, technologies ... these are NOT disambiguated by continuities. Otherwise we would have articles for Cybertron (Planet G1) and Cybertron (Planet Armada) and Cybertron (Planet RID) and Cybertron (Planet Movie) and Cybertron (Planet Animated). We don't. --Jimsorenson 12:12, 25 December 2009 (EST)
