Talk:Goldfire

Eh? He's still "Bumblebee" in the comic - closest they came to calling him Goldfire was a passing line about using "goldfire shielding" in his rebuild. Only the toy is *actually* called Goldfire. - SanityOrMadness (talk) 13:08, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- Sure, but the toy counts for something, doesn't it? Even if the toy bio is a microcontinuity, it is an IDW Bumblebee related microcontinuity. The bio isn't talking about Aligned Bumblebee or G1 cartoon Bumblebee. If someone searches for "Goldfire," where should he be redirected to? - Gimmick (talk) 15:08, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- But now the redirect doesn't take you to a page that actually contains something named Goldfire, such as the toy. Shouldn't the redirect go to the toy entry? --ItsWalky (talk) 20:12, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- Yea, that was the other page I was considering to put the redirect. But maybe there should be something on this page about Goldfire. How about a toy bio section? - Gimmick (talk) 21:22, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- Toys get names not used in fiction all the time. We don't give those names their own pages; there's no "Beast Changer" page separate from "Noble". "Goldfire" will be a redirect and nothing more. --ItsWalky (talk) 21:47, 19 December 2013 (EST)
- I think it is a little different this time. The name change is acknowledged as part of his bio fiction in this case, kind of like the original Goldbug. He was once known as BUMBLEBEE back when he had a chance to lead CYBERTRON into a golden age. Now all GOLDFIRE can do is continue fighting to protect what he can. - Gimmick (talk) 10:28, 20 December 2013 (EST)
- There should obviously be some kind of "His upgraded form is sometimes known as Goldfire" note; we've been doing that standard since the beginning. It seems to weird to have it on the comic page, but if not, then the main page. -LV (talk) 11:45, 20 December 2013 (EST)
- It is not a "little different" this time. We don't have a separate page for Goldbug. (Well, we do for the Goldbug-who-isn't-Bumblebee, okay, but that's a different guy.) The Bumblebee page merely says that he's sometimes got an upgraded form named Goldbug. That is no different from this. It's the exact same thing but with a different second syllable. --ItsWalky (talk) 12:23, 20 December 2013 (EST)
- I'm not sure what we are disagreeing about, if anything. I feel you misunderstand something. I created the "Goldfire" page as a redirect to IDW Bumblebee. I don't want a separate Goldfire page. I also suggested a "Toy bio continuity" header somewhere after the "IDW Generation 1 continuity" header to explain where the name "Goldfire" came from. It would explain that in the toy bio continuity, IDW Bumblebee was renamed Goldfire. - Gimmick (talk) 16:16, 20 December 2013 (EST)
