Talk:Grimlock (WFC)
A question to anyone who played the DS: the article says Grimlock is "dim-witted." So is he portrayed like the very dim Cartoon Grimlock? and not the more intelligent but agressively brutish Comic Grimmy? Just trying to get a feel for how he's written in his only Prime appearence so far. --99.90.240.61 16:29, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
- In the DS game he is "dim-witted" like the cartoon --Saberblade 12:45,23 July 2010 (EDT)
Coming soon tag
[edit]Why has the coming soon tag for Rage of the Dinobots epired when the comic hasn't come out yet. Flydie 08:30, 2 November 2012 (EDT)
- Because the tag was set for "November 2012". It is now November 2012. As no exact date was given, the tag expired as soon as it was November. Does anyone have the exact release date?--Khajidha 08:37, 2 November 2012 (EDT)
- I don't think we get those for IDW comics until a few days before the actual release, do we? --abates 17:21, 2 November 2012 (EDT)

Split?
[edit]Apparently the RID Grimlock is a separate character from the WFC one, his descendant more precisely. --Phantom Dusclops'92 (talk) 12:57, 20 January 2015 (EST)
For one thing he is a Decepticon. Last I checked the Grimlock from the games/comics would never agree to become a Decepticon. --Revan's Exile (talk) 00:39, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
- It's becoming kinda apparent that in RID "Decepticon" has come to mean something like "convicted criminal" in this show, rather than there being any specific cause attached to it. --abates (talk) 01:16, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
- I think the biggest issue is that, thanks to the Beast Hunters comic series, FOC Grimlock is explicitly meant to exist in the Prime cartoon timeline, which RID'15 also takes place in. Meaning that any difference between Gold Grimlock and Green Grimlock needs to be within the realms of the difference between any other character from Prime, like Bumblebee and Ghost of Optimus, and their reappearance in this show
- Other than a T-Rex-based alt mode and a name, do the two share ANY notable common features? How would he go from running New Kalis/New Spark with the other Dinobots to being locked up for how he looks, have his personality change to the extent it would seem to have, etc? - SanityOrMadness (talk) 02:15, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
- I did see some people question Mairghread Scott about it during today's live tweet, but she didn't answer, which makes me think it may simply be explained in time and would therefore be spoilers. --abates (talk) 03:44, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
- "Locked up for how he looks"? He's a violent brute who fights people just for fun. The latest aired-in-Australia episode says he was locked up for massive collateral damage from these fights.
- We wait. For the ELEVEN BILLIONTH FUCKING TIME, we shouldn't jump right to "split" when something from a new series doesn't line up 100% with older iterations in the first tiny part of the new. --M Sipher (talk) 11:16, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
- We have many characters with incompatible histories within various spinoffs. Why is this different now? Saix (talk) 17:01, 15 March 2015 (EDT)
- Well we did it with AOE Crosshairs. I suppose it's fair to wait and see if anything more definitive comes up before splitting though. Currently the two don't really line up; Bee and Grimlock if I'm not mistaken were both around for FOC so the two should at least know of eachother.--BlackStarscream (talk) 14:00, 17 March 2015 (EDT)
- The two Crosshairses weren't similar in anything but name. The Grimlocks are both violent Autobot T. rexes that are ultimately based on G1 Grimlock. They're the same character in different continuities. Saix (talk) 15:58, 17 March 2015 (EDT)
- Except since this is the Aligned Continuity we're talking about they aren't definitively in two different continuities. --BlackStarscream (talk) 22:29, 18 March 2015 (EDT)

Mairghread Scott has stated that Beast Hunters Grimlock and RiD Grimlock aren't the same character, and BH Grimlock is pretty much 100% in-line with WFC. I know that's authorial intent, but does it make it enough to split? She's arguably confirmed that they aren't meant to be the same "character archetype". - Riptide (talk) 11:48, 29 April 2015 (EDT)
- That just confirms that there isn't one consistent Aligned continuity, which I've been saying this whole time. People seriously need to let go of the idea that Hasbro or the writers care about keeping everything lined up and treat Aligned like the continuity family it always was. Saix (talk) 12:26, 29 April 2015 (EDT)
- "Whether that means the comics got cut out of canon or there is another Grimlock out there isn’t something I can answer just yet." Oh look, important information where she SAYS SHE IS NOT SAYING THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT GRIMLOCKS IN THE SAME TIMELINE. She is only saying the portrayals are nominally incompatible, and that how this affects the comics ISN'T SOMETHING SHE CAN ANSWER YET. Read, people, and I mean more than just whatever confirms what you want to hear. --M Sipher (talk) 13:40, 29 April 2015 (EDT)
I think we seriously need to consider splitting these Grimlocks when the show's production team are all saying this is a different Grimlock to the one in the games. --abates (talk) 18:39, 4 June 2015 (EDT)
- Our first "(RID 2015)" article! Saix (talk) 18:43, 4 June 2015 (EDT)
- Even if we don't split the page, I don't think the intro should treat RID Grimlock like he's a future version of WFC Grimlock, since he's officially not the same guy with the same history. It's not like IDW Star Saber is described like a future version of Victory Star Saber in the intro paragraph. Riptide (talk) 13:32, 22 June 2015 (EDT)
Intro shorter?
[edit]Why's the article's introduction so short? It used to being around two paragraphs long but now it's barely two lines worth of information. --Metroplex (talk) 19:00, 20 November 2015 (EST)
