Redirecting sticky
[edit]Typing just "henkei" in the Search box and hitting "Go" has it as a redirect to Classics (2006), which I think kinda makes it moot at this point. --Lonegamer78 09:53, 13 April 2009 (EDT)
- Fixed. - Starfield 10:35, 13 April 2009 (EDT)
- Sweet. Thanks! --Lonegamer78 10:39, 13 April 2009 (EDT)
Untranslated name
[edit]Why aren't "Henkei! Henkei!" and "Gentei! Gentei!" translated like Kyokushō Henkei is? Or maybe Kyokushō Henkei shouldn't be translated. Either way, do we want to be consistent? - Starfield 11:30, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- Henkei! probably isn't translated because it would then be MORE confusing. "Transform" isn't a very clear name when talking about TFs. --Khajidha 11:37, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- "Transform! Transform! Transformers" isn't all that confusing. - Starfield 12:09, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- But using "Henkei" and "Gentei" makes identifying a heck lot easier on the lines. "Hey, do you have the latest photos of Transform Red Alert?" or "Anyone has the Exclusive Dark Skyfire?" looks ridiculous and, as Kahjidha said, could create more confusion if you're not careful on remembering to capitalize the "T" and "E". Compare to "Where can I buy Henkei Bumblebee?" and "I'm willing to trade for a Gentei Thrust." While one can argue that "Smallet Transforming Transformers" is a lot easier to remember than "Kyokushō Henkei" for most Westerners, "Henkei" and "Gentei" is easy by themselves when you shorten it down; "transform" and "exclusive" is used in everyday speech.
- Mind, this is my thoughts, so I don't know about the others. --Lonegamer78 14:12, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- But it is ridiculous. The ridiculousness is just currently lost in translation. The Japanese have no choice but to say something like "Transform Red Alert" and "Exclusive Dark Skyfire". But I understand your points. In the west it is better known as Henkei, Gentei, and Smallest Transforming Transformers. - Starfield 16:32, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- "Transform! Transform! Transformers" isn't all that confusing. - Starfield 12:09, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
- I did try to change over to "Kyokushō Henkei Transformers" a while ago, but FortMax whined about it. I am all for using the original Japanese and not an unofficial translation.
- And, no, we're not going to translate Henkei! Henkei!. Nobody knows what the hell "Transform! Transform!" is. —Interrobang 14:26, 12 August 2010 (EDT)
