Talk:Hoist (G1)
Aww. My "Hoist Sucks, More Than Trailbreaker," comment was my attempt at being funny. And it's an injoke at BWTF. 71.60.159.181 07:05, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
MW Hoist
[edit]The text here says that Hoist is a redeco of MW Hubcap. Since the mold is of a tow truck, wouldn't it be more proper to say that Hubcap is a redeco of Hoist, thereby suggesting that Hoist is the intended "original"?--G.B. Blackrock 14:12, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- They were released at the same time, so Hoist is as much of a redeco of Hubcap as Hubcap is as Hoist. If anything, they are both redecos of a unreleased G2 toy, as are all of the MW basics. --FortMax 14:59, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- I'm certainly aware that they were released at the same time, but since the mold clearly exhibits Hoist's alt-mode (or something reasonably similar) and not Hubcap's (indeed, it seems that this Hubcap isn't even the same as the old one), I certainly think saying that Hoist is a redeco of Hubcap is wrong. It sure sounds wrong, at any rate.--G.B. Blackrock 21:45, 19 September 2007 (UTC)
- Some observations:
- MW Hubcap is the same color as G1 Hubcap
- MW Hoist has the same altmode as G1 Hoist (a G1 Trailbreaker redeco/retool)
- MW Hoist has the same colors as G1 Trailbreaker (including yellow and red stripes)
- several toys/characters were inspired by and/or originally intended to be Trailbreaker, but wound up being different guys with different names

[edit]The Master Builders
[edit]The description from the episode The Master Builders doesn't make sense to me. What is this idea Prime rejected? Obviously it's something to do with building a tower...
An early mishap involved Hoist, Grapple, the Constructicons, and a Solar Tower. Prime rejected the idea, but Grapple and Hoist persevered on it anyway. The Constructicons lent assistance to build the tower before sealing the builders within it so that the Decepticons could use it, exactly as Prime had feared. The entire situation was hardly Hoist's cup of tea. The Master Builders

[edit]I know that the current quote was in his spotlight issue, but could we change it? It makes him sound like a prick, not a jovial, friendly medic.

- Without the punchline, the setup is meaningless. --Thylacine 2000 (talk) 13:26, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
- Does that quote really encompass Hoist as a character in total? Seems kinda IDW-specific, and IDW wasn't exactly a place he got much more focus than other continuities. It still works for the most part if you squint, and unless someone wants to do a deep dive into various Hoist quotes over the years... Nu-Priest (talk) 15:32, 28 September 2021 (EDT)
