Necessary?

[edit]

Is Hook a different character from Hightower, or merely a japanese name for his green legends deco? If the latter, I'm not sure this page is "needed"204.185.19.241 18:26, 18 May 2010 (EDT)

From what I understand after reading this page is that in Japan the green one is Hook and the original one is still Hightower. That means they're separate characters. --ItsWalky 19:01, 18 May 2010 (EDT)
If it was anyone other than ROTF Devastator, you might be right that "Hook" is just "Hightower" with a different name. But Devastator doesn't have a set configuration[1] so there is no reason to think Hook isn't a different character. - Starfield 20:07, 18 May 2010 (EDT)

Wait, "Hook"?

[edit]

Did they really name him "Hook" (Hasbro G1 name) and not "Glen" or "Gren" (Takara G1 name)?--Nevermore 10:38, 19 October 2010 (EDT)

Here is his name in Japanese. Decepticon Hook? - Starfield 11:39, 19 October 2010 (EDT)
I think all of the movie toys are called by their American names in Japan. Same thing's happening to Animated and United. --NCZ 11:54, 19 October 2010 (EDT)
A concept which is not particularly relevant to a character being renamed and given an Hasbro name for a Takara release. —Interrobang 16:51, 19 October 2010 (EDT)
What I meant was that since it's in G1 colours, they were given the names of the G1 Constructicons, rather than the movie ones. Now that characters are being called by their American names, he was called "Hook" since that's Hightower's G1 counterpart. So I don't see how it's irrelevant, unless I worded it ambiguously before. --NCZ 16:59, 19 October 2010 (EDT)
I'm not sure if it's Interrobang's point, but the problem I see is that they're finally giving a "Hook" counterpart in Japan the name "Hook"...when the English-language-release name is no longer "Hook", so the names are still not identical between markets.--Apcog 21:45, 19 October 2010 (EDT)
I merged the two points into one. That okay?--Nevermore 08:02, 20 October 2010 (EDT)
