"Hunter" Nemesis Prime

[edit]

This guy's name really isn't "Hunter Nemesis Prime" any more than all the other Prime guys were formally renamed "Hunter Bulkhead" or "Hunter Ratchet" or "Hunter Arcee". I get that not being named "Nemesis Prime" is really convenient for organization's sake, but it seems disingenuous to not acknowledge anywhere this is like constantly referring to, for example, one of the Universe Devastators as "Constructicon Devastator". I dunno. It's nothing I'm going to get in a fight about, but it's bothered me as long as the page has existed. -LV (talk) 22:55, 17 September 2020 (EDT)

The thing is, the "Hunter" part was treated as part of the characters' actual names, as silly as that sounds. To cite one example, when Optimus was first introduced in the Go! cartoon, the Swordbots formally addressed him as "Hunter Optimus Prime". And, this goofy kind of naming convention in Japanese media is not without precedent. The Japanese dub of TF: Prime, for instance, had its characters consistently refer to Breakdown and Knock Out as "War Breakdown" and "Medic Knock Out", respectively, despite all sense or reason, and that was just a year or so prior to the Go! series came along. --Sabrblade (talk) 00:17, 18 September 2020 (EDT)
That's just a generally Japanese media thing. Characters get referred to by their full "proper names", which change depending on form. See the Ginrai/Super Ginrai/God Ginrai distinction in Masterforce and subsequent media. "Hunter Nemesis Prime" being this guy's name isn't the same thing as Hasbro calling a toy "Construction Devastator" because of trademark concerns. Saix (talk) 00:46, 18 September 2020 (EDT)
