Javil might be Jabir

[edit]

I was browsing Wikipedia and ran across this article [1] on an chemist/alchemist named Jabir (also anglicized into Geber) who apparently is the source of the word "gibberish". Now, you take that knowledge and read Sparkstalker's entry and it sort of clicks... Takara was making a cryptography joke. Long story short, his name is Jabir after all. Japanese Wikipedia says that the guy's name is written ジャービル Jābiru as opposed to ジャビル Jabiru. —Interrobang 01:30, 3 May 2009 (EDT)
Given that the name was originally Arabic, I don't think it's unsafe to assume that the spelling has changed in the twenty+ years since the figure came out. Much like how a lot of Iraq location names changed English spellings after the war began and people refined the anglicized versions more (Khatar to Qatar, etc) and in the '80s we had the limitless spelling and pronunciation changes to Moammar Quaddafi. Or it's just a Metroplex <-> Metroflex thing. But either way, it sounds like a valid explanation for the name being the odd man out between Sizzle and Guzzle.--MCRG Again 17:22, 3 May 2009 (EDT)
