Talk:Jetfire (WFC)
Was it an English accent? I kinda thought it was Austrailian as a nod to the Unicron Trilogy. --ZacWilliam 10:22, 14 July 2010 (EDT)
- I've noticed that Americans can sometimes have trouble differentiating between an English and an Australian accent, unless the latter is *reeeeally* put on heavy, but hell, even I couldn't really tell what they were going for with Jetfire in this game. - True it can be hard to tell. I definately pulled more of an Autrailian feel out of it, but that may or may not be 'cause of the Unicron Trilogy precident in my mind. All I know is I found the accent kinda annoying and missed his G1 voice. But anyway, yeah, I'd vote Austrailian just cause the Prime continuity seems to like borrowing from the past.--ZacWilliam 11:45, 14 July 2010 (EDT)
Being English myself, and listening again to the first cutscene he's in (end of the first chapter), I'd say the accent's definately English. I can't recall if he sounds at all different when he shows up later, but based on that cutscene, I can't really hear any hint of Australian to it. Personally, I'd assumed he was English in reference to Mark Ryan's Jetfire in RotF. Jalaguy
- ROTF Jetfire didn't sound particularly English to me. A bit more... broguey. --M Sipher 12:20, 14 July 2010 (EDT)
- I have many Australian family members (including my dad), and grew up listening to Australian accents. Jetfire's accent sounds Australian to me. -- Servitor 2152 01:48, 16 July 2010 (EDT)
- Jetfire sounds pretty damned Australian to me, personally. And it's not like it'd be the only homage to the Unicron Trilogy in the game. -- Semysane 02:44, 16 July 2010 (EDT)
Well, we seem to have 1 for English, 4 for Australian and one for "damned if I know." I think I'll just go ahead and change it. -- Semysane 16:59, 19 July 2010 (EDT)
- Make that two for English. SO not Australian. --ItsWalky 17:56, 19 July 2010 (EDT)
- Me three. I can recognize my own accent when I hear it. Alientraveller 17:58, 19 July 2010 (EDT)
- That's 3 for English, 4 for Australian and 1 for Dunno, anyone else want to weigh in? -- Semysane 18:00, 19 July 2010 (EDT)
- I could also agree that he sounds potentially Scottish. But regardless, not Australian. --ItsWalky 18:03, 19 July 2010 (EDT)
- A friend of mine who's pretty good with accents also pegs it as Scottish. For what it's worth, Troy Baker will be at the LouisiAnime convention in Baton Rouge in September, so I'll just ask him then what accent he was actually going for. - Servitor 2152 20:35, 20 July 2010 (EDT)
- I'll need to hear it again to double check, but the accent didn't sound very Australian to me, and then there's the obvious influence of ROTF Jetfire's "british isles"-based accent. I would think the intent was a british accent of some sort that didn't come across very well. --FFN 04:25, 21 July 2010 (EDT)

Okay. I spoke to Troy Baker at the LouisiAnime convention in Baton Rouge on Friday. According to him, the voice directors were specifically trying to avoid the posh, upper-crust implications of a standard English accent, so they started with English (received pronunciation, I'm assuming) and then intentionally mutated it, ending up with the weird sort-of-English-rather-Scottish-not-quite-Australian thing that Jetfire has in WfC. Make of that what you will. -- Servitor 2152 11:56, 12 September 2010 (EDT)
I know it's an old topic but I want to add my two cents (as an Australian). In each appearance Jetfire's accent fluctuates between a light English accent and an Australian accent. It varies with the words he says. In his first appearance he speaks with an accent that stays in between English and Australian. Some words have an Engilsh emphasis on them but when he says the word "disaster" he definitely has an Australian accent. If anyone has watched Dragon Ball Z Abridged, think of Jeice's voice, his and Jetfire's often sound quite similar.--210.56.91.207 02:53, 2 February 2012 (EST)
