Talk:Less Than Zero

I gotta say, if Furman intended the fourth section to be in Rhythms of Darkness continuity, he sure didn't do a great job of it. We see how Kup and Rodimus die in RoD, and it's not compatible with what we see here. Kup is standing right next to Blurr as the two get incinerated by Scourge and Cyclonus, for example, and here Blurr is no where to be seen. Likewise, Rodimus is not torn apart by Galvatron's bare hands as we see in RoD. There's also no indication that any of these RoD flashbacks took place anywhere but Earth.

The idea that the fourth section takes place in an alternate 2005 Planet of Junk battle is a much stronger one supported by the actual script and art, regardless of what Furman said. The art is colored like the animated movie, as is mentioned, and what occurs is contrary to the few things we know about RoD's continuity. Dismissing this interpretation as "fanwank" is pretty damn insulting. --ItsWalky 16:14, 18 September 2013 (EDT)

I agree. Escargon 16:35, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
Heck, it can be both. I mean, it's quite clearly supposed to be an alternate version of the shuttle crash, but it can be the version of the shuttle crash that went down in the RoD timeline. I guess it just retcons the original story a bit to pluck the TFTM strings. I thought when I was reading it that it was maybe supposed to be the RoD timeline, but felt it didn't quite fit. - Chris McFeely 16:45, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
Agreed. I've only read RoD once (and it was hastily read in the bookstore flipping through a TPB) but this didn't seem to quite fit for me either. But the mighty Furman say's it's so, so.... --Altercron 16:52, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
I added a note under Transformers References about Cover B if I put it in the wrong section my bad. --Altercron16:34, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
Is that even clearly Kup on the page getting incinerated by Cyclonus and Scourge (yes, it could be Kup, but it's far from a clear picture of whoever's next to Blurr)? Does Hot Rod not seeing Blurr's remains next to the ship in LTZ automatically make Kup's death a continuity error in the RoD timeline? Couldn't Galvatron of continued to rip Rodimus' body apart after he got killed in LTZ? It's clearly established in #67 that Galvatron continued to abused Rodimus' body after his death.
Seems like a lot of the perceived errors with this are just that, perceived errors. ReGenerations 19:37, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
It is true that one can handwave away errors if one pretends errors do not exist. But that's not what we do here. --ItsWalky 21:12, 18 September 2013 (EDT)
There's no handwaving going on here, but very valid points that apparently you wish to ignore. As you're the keeper of the gate with this I'll not wager any kind of war as you've already shown high sensitivity levels here. ReGenerations 00:23, 19 September 2013 (EDT)
Dude, you're the one saying that Kup isn't Kup. And I'm not going to let you behave like you do on AllSpark here. After attacking McFeely's contributions and doing the passive-aggressive "sensitivity levels" crap when I disagree with you, it's clear that this is going to be your M.O., and I won't have it. You're a condescending dick and you're leaving. --ItsWalky 00:43, 19 September 2013 (EDT)
I'm a well known opponent of the idea of authorial intent. If it ain't on the page, it ain't in the universe. When I read this section it never even occurred to me that this could be in Rhythms of Darkness continuity, or that this was the Galvatron that we'd seen running around since said issue. Actually, I was wondering if Furman hadn't gone and pulled The Big Broadcast of 2006 into this universe, given the nods to the Animated style here. (I'm not suggesting that go into the wiki, just that issue 43 popped into my head upon reading this, not issue 67, and I'm extremely well versed in the Marvel continuity.)--Jimsorenson 09:01, 19 September 2013 (EDT)

Bugly

[edit]

I'm not sold that his appearance here is an error - he may have survived the battle against Underbase Starscream but he was last seen in US issue #55 which gives him plenty of time to have been deactivated on Earth for Megatron to find. He doesn't show up during Shockwave's attemtped coup or the battle against Unicron, so there's no direct contradiction. --Emvee 02:21, 19 September 2013 (EDT)

Mystery Stunticon

[edit]

Looks a lot like Breakdown to me - the head's a little off but the wheels on his shoulders and chest details are a match. --Emvee 03:42, 20 September 2013 (EDT)
