Sorry guys... I don't know how the hell I wiped out the page. --FFN 04:41, 19 January 2008 (UTC)

The mainland Chinese name for Metroplex would be more accurately rendered as "Fierce Grand Marshal." —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.33.222.169 (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.

Anybody got a picture of Metroplex combined with any or all of the following: Hot Spot, Silverbolt, Onslaught, Motormaster? I have a pic I dregded up but it's not mine, and the site that (presumably) hosted it is gone.Hida Atarasi 00:10, 22 December 2009 (EST)

So, someone changed the spelling in most of the product headers to "Metroflex". Small change, but I changed in back.

That's his Japanese name. The toys were released in Japan, hence why they're listed under Metroflex. Bobpiecheese 04:40, 29 February 2012 (EST)

Breakable?

[edit]

I was reading the toy section about suffering from weak points, but I have three of the buggers (all second-hand) and stickers aside, they're in great condition - far better than, say, any of the Triple Changers or even the Aerialbots. Have I been really lucky with these? They're all the plastic wheels version common in the UK. --Emvee 08:59, 29 December 2012 (EST)

What continuity family is Generations Metroplex

[edit]

Shall we move it?.. Or? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Johnthedragon (talkcontribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.

It's not FOC Metroplex. It bears zero resemblance to the specific FOC design, and doesn't have FOC branding anywhere on its packaging. Jalaguy 10:08, 25 February 2013 (EST)
Furthermore, it's promoted in IDW's G1 spotlight comics. --ItsWalky 12:55, 25 February 2013 (EST)
Got a source on that claim that it's FOC? --Detour 19:13, 25 February 2013 (EST)
I'm sure the original poster is going off the reports that he was "inspired by" or "based on" FOC Metroplex, but given everything we know about him, that seems to be in the sense of "that's why we did a big Metroplex toy", not "this is a toy of that Metroplex". -LV 19:23, 25 February 2013 (EST)
The only thing that's really FOC-based the most about this toy is its batch of electronic voice quotes taken from the game. But a big indicator about its identity is its toy bio pinning him down the closest to IDW Metroplex. --Sabrblade 00:26, 26 February 2013 (EST)
And also also the big packaging art thing where he's hanging out with all these G1 guys. --ItsWalky 01:55, 26 February 2013 (EST)
Slightly less assumptiony then all this, here's TFclub:

The Transformers Generations Titan Class Metroplex is the largest converting Transformers toy EVER! At over two feet tall, Metroplex from the hit video game Transformers: Fall Of Cybertron from Activision, the Autobots’ ultimate weapon converts from robot mode to rolling battle platform mode, and converts into an Autobot city! The ultimate action figure for Transformers fans!

So, certainly drawing inspiration from the IDW version, but there's bits from FOC too, and hey, TFclub. Move now?KrytenKoro 18:01, 27 February 2013 (EST)
We all know Hasbro thinks of characters as being the same guys no matter what line they're from. Unless the guy is sold in FOC packaging, or has references to FOC in his bio, or is depicted with FOC toys or guys in FOC bodies, there's no reason for him to be considered a toy of FOC Metroplex. -LV 18:49, 27 February 2013 (EST)
I don't think we'd move the toy based on a single press release. I'd say that actual G1 fiction (packed in with toys in the same toyline, no less) shilling the toy, and a package bio that makes reference to a very specific aspect of said fiction, are a more convincing argument than one sentence in some marketing copy. They bring up Fall of Cybertron 'cause they can't very well say 'as seen in a cartoon 28 years ago!'. We've just had a line of Fall of Cybertron toys, all of which bear close resemblance to their in-game appearances. If Hasbro had set out to make a toy of Fall of Cybertron Metroplex, it'd... look like Fall of Cybertron Metroplex. Jalaguy 18:50, 27 February 2013 (EST)
Didn't they just make FOC Omega Supreme who doesn't really look like his model? Also, Transformers Club's official website seems like it would absolutely be able to say "as seen in IDW" or "as seen in Generation 1" or what the hell ever they want to. Plus, the Prime comics shill the IDW comics as well.
You guys are the experts, though, it just seems kind of weird that the preferred choice is based on a lot of vague stuff, in contrast to one explicit statement.KrytenKoro 19:24, 27 February 2013 (EST)

I feel I should mention that the "command center windows" stickers in his chest have G1 Optimus and Arcee in them, among others. --M Sipher 19:30, 27 February 2013 (EST)

....huh. Withdrawn.KrytenKoro 19:47, 27 February 2013 (EST)

Development

[edit]

This thing has aborted features up the wazoo; what I'd give for notes from the development team: the "pillars" holes are equidistant with the ports behind the shoulder turret; the smaller, black guns have a "nub" that wants to be a full post, these match perfect to the holes on either side of the toy's arms. His knee pads fold up over the Tarmac in transport mode, and have two sets of corresponding slot sets in his shins; even the double-jointed knees. Fully incorporated, this toy could have cost as much as encore max. Hida Atarasi 11:12, 26 September 2013 (EDT)

  • First off, to what ports behind the shoulder turret are you referring? Second, the black guns can and do plug in to the sockets on his arms that are also used for attaching "Scramble City"-type limb robots. As for the knee pads, they're weapon hardpoints. In city mode, they give the rifles a place to be mounted. In battlestation mode, they can be attached (although they block the missile battery) as places to mount weapons from the "Scramble City" team leaders. But there probably are dropped features. Looking at his arms (and considering he was originally being developed for Diaclone, as were the pre-movie "Scramble City" teams) I think it highly likely that they were intended to have a fist-launching gimmick, but it was dropped either for safety reasons or for because the need to have the arms collapse got in the way. He may also have been intended to have metal plates attached at certain points. And there has to have been some purpose to the hole in his chest. ZTS is Very Sorry (talk) 11:51, 25 May 2015 (EDT)

The Encore retool

[edit]
  • According to Remy's site and reports he's heard. there were original Metroplexes with the peg on Slammer's turret to make it a tower add-on, and the prototype in the catalog has said peg as well. Thus, it would seem the Encore retool didn't create the peg... but instead expunged the original (and more common) pegless variant. ZTS is Very Sorry (talk) 19:29, 23 May 2015 (EDT)
