I would like to note that it's entirely possible the moons were left behind on that trip. It's also conceivable that Cybertron acquired them. Another possibility is that they are artificial, and were built by the Transformers at some point between 1986 and 2005. And now for a non-serious but relevant comment: Primus probably was very upset about losing the moons. He likes to keep a couple handy, just in case.
