Squirrel or sugar glider

Based on the name, I would have assumed this was a sugar glider; both flying squirrels and sugar gliders glide, both are nocturnal. Also they look very similar, and the toy (as a Transmetal 2) is very stylized so it's hard to tell based on that. Is there a source that specifies? Is this sort of info in the sourcebook?
