Talk:Optimus Prime (Animated)
Untitled
[edit]Is this guy going to fly like in Transformers Cybertron? The article called Animated Optimus Prime said something about flying somewhere.(Soldier 79 01:07, 21 October 2007 (UTC))
Hey, his Bio says he's a washout. Should that go in now?--Chiasaur11
- I personally am opposed to adding bio information gleamed from presumedly-stolen toys, and I interpret the style guide as saying we should not do so, but this was apparently a point of some contention just last week with Prowl and Bumblebee. I know at least one person who agrees with me, but I don't know everyone that was involved with the initial formulation of the policy.
- There are a number of individuals (and officials here) who I would feel confident *guessing* feel the same way I do, but I don't know where to point you to see them state that. --Sntint 20:57, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Actually the bios were not taken from "Stolen toys", but premilinary toys send out to big toyshops. It even had it written on them. --Hepathos 21:31, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Where is it written on them that they are preliminaries for toy stores? And if they are, why are they on eBay? --Sntint 21:36, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- Well it WAS written on Prowl. And they on eBay 'cuz some people are crazy enought to play 180 bucks for them. --Hepathos 22:39, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
- ...but who PUT them on eBay? Can you provide evidence that these are preliminaries sent to stores? Also, can you provide evidence that the owners of these stores are the ones putting the toys on eBay?
- Because I think Toy Fair, and its equivilants, are how Hasbro advertises upcoming product to retailers. Not by sending them advance copies. --Sntint 22:50, 8 December 2007 (UTC)

Sntint is correct -- we do not post information gleaned from leaks or stolen toys. We stick strictly to officially-released/condoned stuff. That goes for images, plot summaries, character names, etc.. Buyer samples -- if these particular toys even are legitimate samples and not simply being billed as such -- are a greyer area, admittedly, but we are staying away from them as well. Unless the toy was purchased from a retailer by a consumer, or the bio was officially released in some capacity (press release, website, promo flyer, etc.), we still consider it "coming soon". eBay is not a legitimate avenue for breaking news. --Steve-o 23:14, 8 December 2007 (UTC)
Toys mouthplate
[edit]"In robot mode, his head has a retracted mouthplate." Really? Where does this info come from? I have nevere seen any pic of his cybertronian mode with mouthplate. Can anyone else confirm?--GUIGUI 12:16, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- He means, that he has his face with retracted mouthplate. You can't slide it out. --Hepathos 13:07, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
- Oh, yes, of course. Thanks.--GUIGUI 14:51, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
car crusher
[edit]has he stood in a car crusher or something?! look at him!! his bottom halfs tiny and his top halfs nearly the size of UNICRON (<-unicron bits a joke) hows he suposed to transform when he's in that state!!!81.108.233.59 17:28, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
- Wow, are you just awaken from a coma? --Hepathos 20:24, 29 January 2008 (UTC)
is that coma thing a joke? if it is its not funny and i dont get it81.108.233.59 09:02, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
- No, he was honestly worried about your neurological health. Seriously though, Transformers much stranger looking than him have existed. Plus, the exagerated difference between his chest and waist/legs give him a hypermasculine appearance, making him look more heroic, appropriate for the fearless leader of the Autobots. Semysane 10:56, 7 February 2008 (UTC)
Spatula Caption
[edit]Actually, I thought that one was kind of amusing...--Apcog 04:57, 20 February 2008 (UTC)
Laugh
[edit]In that trailer, when Sentinel Prime is a victim to the headmaster, he has the most idiotic laugh. I hope he doesn't laugh like that in the rest of the series.--Dynamus Prime 20:04, 17 March 2008 (UTC)
full truck
[edit]will there be a toy with the back of the fire truck.--Autobot Soundwave 22:21, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
- If Hasbro doesn't make one, I'm sure someone will make one that they'll sell for exorbitant fees on the internet. - Semysane 22:26, 14 April 2008 (UTC)
"Smokestacks?"
[edit]Can we remove that line from the intro? I find it throws the timing off completely. Simply ending with "Maybe The touch?" seems to put the article off to a better start. (Undecided) 04:01, 18 April 2008 (UTC)
Seriously
[edit]We HAVE to be able to come up with a better caption then "G1 MODE ACTIVATE" for the battle begins OP. Any ideas?--Skyglide 02:23, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- We have a line from the Lumberjack Song for the image before it, perhaps we could use the next line in the song. - Semysane 08:33, 21 May 2008 (UTC)
- Any reason why we are back to G1 mode activate? ¬_¬ --Skyglide 04:35, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
- I put in "OMG! Is that black stuff the same that that other guy has?"
Is that any good?Dead Metal 17:54, 27 May 2008 (UTC)
- Yea thats pretty good. But so is the axed him for help bit.
and let me just DO NOT CHANGE IT BACK TO "G1 MODE ACTIVATE" its NOT funny. thats like something a third grader would say on the playground!
We need to have like a vote on which we like better.
Black stuff or Axed him a question? --Skyglide 23:00, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
- Slight problem. Neither of em are particularly funny, and certainly aren't any better or worse then the G1 joke User:GWolfv2 00.07 May 30th
- On the contrary, anything is funnier then G1 MODE ACTIVATE!--Skyglide 23:09, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
sure, make a joke about how he resembles g1 prime, BUT MY NO MEANS SHOULD IT SAY SOMETHING AS STUPIDLY UNFUNNY AS "G1 MODE ACTIVATE"! --Skyglide 23:14, 29 May 2008 (UTC)
Nightwatch's voice actor
[edit]Dude. He's definitely David Kaye! I saw it in the store, and it was Kaye. I even went through the voice clips several times for good measure. He even says lines from the show, including, "We're taking that driver down!" (The Thrill of the Hunt) and, "I'll protect the AllSpark!" (Transform and Roll Out?) So it is Kaye. --206.253.51.107 13:52, 21 March 2009 (EDT) I agree, unmistakably Kaye's voice on that thing.--86.87.28.191 17:53, 21 September 2009 (EDT)
is it just me or if his cybertronian mode was coloured green, with a different head sculpt, wouldn't he be like kup?
Transportation on transportation
[edit]Upon viewing the Cybertron modes in the Almanac, I noticed on Optimus' tread-legs, he has the tiny wheels from the toy. This confuses me so much. Is this trivia material, though? --Malunis T 09:37, 4 October 2009 (EDT)
Concept truck
[edit]The concept truck mentioned in the Cybertron mode toy description is possibly false. I asked Derrick if the Cybertronian truck was based on the concept truck, and he claims he's never seen said concept truck until I showed it to him. Edited toy description to say it resembles the concept truck instead. Proof here --Malunis T 16:31, 19 October 2009 (EDT)
As pointed out on Rodimus's talkpage, neither Rodimus or Optimus Prime are really the leader of the Autobot in Animated, so it has been proposed that they both be removed from that category. - Starfield 10:31, 24 March 2010 (EDT)
- I wonder what the Allspark Almanac II will say about the last episode. 'Cuz it's possible that Optimus is Autobot leader NOW. --ItsWalky 11:18, 24 March 2010 (EDT)
- On that specific subject, it will likely be silent.--Jimsorenson 11:32, 24 March 2010 (EDT)
- He's a leader of a GROUP of Autobots. Does that count? The category isn't Autobot Supreme Commanders or something. -- Semysane 12:10, 24 March 2010 (EDT)
- There are lots of Autobots that are leaders of a group of Autobots. Like the combiner team leaders and so forth. So it depends on what we want the category to be. I always assumed it was for characters who were at some point the leader of the Autobots. - Starfield 12:25, 24 March 2010 (EDT)
- There are lots of UNIT''' leaders. And political leaders. There's only one Supreme Commander. The term Autobot leader is almost always used in regards to the Supreme Commander. And the only ones here are Magnus and Sentinel User:Eire 24 March 17.12 2010 (GMT)
- Well frankly, neither Springer nor Impactor are in the category in spite of their being leaders of the Wreckers, so I've got to agree with using the Autobot leaders category as strictly referring to leaders of Autobots as a whole. --Detour 13:28, 24 March 2010 (EDT)

Optimus Prime Battle Blaster
[edit]It DOES have recorded sounds, the one in my local shop plays sounds when the Autobot insignia on the lights got pressed.--Sunjumper 15:10, 31 March 2010 (EDT)
Japanese Nicknames
[edit]In the Japanese dub of Transform and Roll Out part 1, there's a bit of dialogue between Bumblebee and Optimus during the preview for episode/part 2. Bumblebee rattles off a series of increasingly absurd nicknames for Optimus:
- "Brother Convoy" (コンボイニチャン Convoy-niichan)
- "Opti" (オプティ)
- "Opera" (オプラ Opura)
- "Pupu" (ププ)
Anyone think that these are worth mentioning? -- Ayellowbirds 20:10, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- Pupu. Opti. --ItsWalky 20:12, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- (They should probably also be mentioned in trivia.) --ItsWalky 20:13, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- Bumblebee doesn't say "nii-chan" - he said "ii jan", as in "isn't it good". "Convoy de ii jan?" --Lonegamer78 20:15, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- Lonegamer- On a second listening, you're right. So, change that to just "Convoy", I suppose.
- ItsWalky- I was wondering if we should follow the precedent set by Ratchet_(G1)'s list of nicknames? -- Ayellowbirds 20:27, 13 April 2010 (EDT)
- The "nicknames" at the tops of articles are not for nicknames that were used in fiction or fandom; they're specifically for nicknames that were included in pre-production versions of the Marvel "Transformers Universe" profiles in old issues of The Transformers Comic Magazine, and every instance of such a listing is, AFAIK, cited as such (or was, when I did them a while ago). In retrospect, these particular nickname sections should be moved to the Notes sections of their respective pages instead, but IIRC when that happened with Starscream, they got put back at the top anyway by another user... --Monzo 22:21, 13 April 2010 (EDT)

"Trailerjet"
[edit]The arcade card that comes with Wingblade Optimus Prime says that his Alternate Mode is "Trailer-jet" (Tore-ra-jetto). You guys don't seem to list the alternate modes in a standardized manner, so should that still be mentioned? Or should it just go on the toy's section?98.222.213.161 16:18, 5 February 2011 (EST)
