The TFW link on Spaastic's name change is broken, and I can't find it to update the link, suggesting the news story itself has been removed. Perhaps it was inaccurate? --abates 17:02, 26 November 2010 (EST)

Some other websites have reported it, so those could be citations. (Here's one) I personally, think it's accurate. --NCZ 22:34, 26 November 2010 (EST)
That link says that Spastic will not be available in the UK. The broken link said something about Spastic's name changing everywhere. I think we need to wait and see for official news that the name will change, or if the toy is simply canceled or something. - Starfield 22:41, 26 November 2010 (EST)
For what it's worth, I reported the whole thing to Rich Johnston, who basically published my text (with my approval) with minimal changes and a credit at the bottom. This is one article that reports the facts accurately as far as I'm concerned.--Nevermore 12:02, 28 November 2010 (EST)

Availability in the UK

[edit]

Despite what Hasbro and the article said, Overrun was actually solicited in the UK by Hasbro, but the wave was never picked up. A friend who ran a toy business confirmed that a while back, though sadly I've got no physical proof of it.Blueshift (talk) 05:35, 25 May 2015 (EDT)

White Knight

[edit]

"The controversy was picked up by tabloid newspapers in the United Kingdom, thanks to a self-appointed white knight: a UK Transformers fan who felt Hasbro should be "taught a lesson" by having the story spread to the mainstream press"

- This isn't actually true, the story made it to the papers first, in the Scottish Daily Record. I also really don't think it is appropriate to single out one person out of potentially many who complained (I personally know others who did), and at the time it wasn't known that the figure wouldn't be released outside of North America, so it was hardly 'white knighting', more a genuine concern. Strafe's Bio

[edit]

Do we really need to talk about another character's bio on Over-Run's page? Okay, so they changed the word 'spastic' in Strafe's bio because of this toy but is it actually worth mentioning here? Make note of it on Strafe's page if its that important but Over-Run has nothing to do with Strafe. 95.148.9.91 07:58, 20 January 2011 (EST)

It's Trivia and it's hardly like it's hurting anything here, or taking up some portion of a finite alocation of space in the article. It does no harm, it's realated to the spastic uproar cant say theres any reason not to leave it.--76.28.76.206 09:15, 20 January 2011 (EST)
"They changed the word 'spastic' in Strafe's bio because of this toy" is exactly why it's worth mentioning here. If you want to learn about the whole "Spastic" thing, you should be able to find it all on one page. Breaking it up all over the place isn't helpful to anyone. --ItsWalky 09:28, 20 January 2011 (EST)

Er, what?

[edit]

... why do we need a source to confirm that the printed "Spastic" name was covered with a sticker, and why is the source I added not sufficient?--Nevermore 09:14, 3 April 2011 (EDT)

I put the citation tag because I had not heard anything about it at the time. All the sources I had seen were unclear as to release date so I wasn't even sure that large numbers of boxes had been printed (beyond packaging test samples). Given the speculatory nature of the sentences the person who posted it followed it with ("Many fans will probably remove the stickers using a hairdryer and some Goo Gone. Eventually, stickered versions will be extremely rare.") I felt that it was possible that the whole sticker thing was also speculation. If there is any evidence otherwise (even, in this case, illicitly acquired info) I'm happy to have the tag removed. --Khajidha 09:41, 3 April 2011 (EDT)
With sticker on eBay, from Hong Kong, received with stickers from Hasbro Toy Shop, printed on the back of the instruction sheet, covered with a sticker everywhere else, has stickers, stickers...--Nevermore 10:57, 3 April 2011 (EDT)

More about the stickers

[edit]

I just received my Over-Run from Hasbro Toyshop and it has a sticker on the back of the instruction sheet. I almost didn't notice that it was a sticker. Are we sure that there are samples with the name actually printed on them? --Khajidha 18:10, 16 June 2011 (EDT)

Pack-in

[edit]

Hrn. The only Over-Runs in our area, across multiple stores, only came with Sledge. And so I was pretty sure there wasn't any mixing or matching, but there are some reports of Over-Run coming with other dudes. Maybe our area just sucks for choice. --ItsWalky 23:49, 26 November 2011 (EST)

Breakage points?

[edit]

Does Over-Run have any confirmed cases of his hinges breaking like Leadfoot?--Wildstreak (talk) 12:10, 24 March 2020 (EDT)
