Why does this guy have accented pronunciation cues in his article name? And why doesn't Hōli have them?

Because "Pīpō" is a Japanese word. And "Holi" is whatever the fuck it's supposed to be (a pun on "police", apparently). —Interrobang 19:08, 30 July 2009 (EDT)

The first syllable is very specifically "ho". In Japanese writing, "po" (ポ) is a modification of "ho" (ホ). —Interrobang 21:28, 30 July 2009 (EDT)

OK, back to the original question. I was under the impression that if a Japanese character didn't have an English name the wiki went with a straight-up romanization of the Japanese, which would mean Pīpō and Hōrī. The exception being that the English-Malay dub doesn't count as an English name because... the dub was off-the-wall, or because the dub wasn't intended for western audiences or something. Well, "Holi" seems to have some basis in English, as opposed to "Pīpō", which is only Japanese. If one wants to debate the correctness of "Holi", I think his talk page is the better place for it. —Interrobang 21:28, 30 July 2009 (EDT)
