Talk:Redeco
You know, we have the plural spelled as both "redecos" and "redecoes" on redeco in two of the headers. I'm not sure how I prefer to see it spelled; depending on what time it is in the day, one or the other looks "wrong" to me. I once asked Kyde jokingly how it was supposed to be spelled, or at least how they spell it at Hasbro, and he said "redecos." Of course, Kyde is a big liar whose word can never be trusted, and it's not like Aaron Archer is known for his impeccable spelling anyway. --ItsWalky 01:17, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Hm. Considering there's no dictionary.com entry at all for "redeco"... or "re-deco"... and none of the noun versions of "deco" seem to have a listed plural form... uh... I dunno. --M Sipher 00:14, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
- Well, yeah. Since it's a Hasbro-originated term, that's why I asked Kyde. --ItsWalky 00:25, 9 November 2006 (UTC)
Popular redeco characters
[edit]I think this section needs some serious trimming. I'm thinking of removing any that do not involve at least three separate molds and also removing mention of those that are also retools (ie: removing Thrust, Dirge, and Ramjet while leaving Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker, and Sunstorm). Any feedback or objections? Khajidha 14:24, 19 March 2010 (EDT)
- Actually, i was thinking sort of the opposite... not so much keeping the info here, but maybe give molds that have had a few notable redecoes or retools their own page? Or maybe have a comprehensive list as just one page? It could be useful, I mean for people like me who want to try and get every version of a mold. I know redecoes are usually listed under the "Toys" section on their mold- mates' pages but they're not always complete, so maybe a devoted page would help? I'm kind of new to this, so i might just be talking out of my arse. But does anyone agree?andi 16:29, 24 July 2010 (EDT)
- I think the listings on each character's page are enough, we just need to make sure that they are properly cross referenced. And I actually trimmed that section months ago. --Khajidha 16:32, 24 July 2010 (EDT)
- Well you probably know more about it than I do. I'm new to this so yeah... not really up to date with everything yet.
- See? I even forgot to friggin' sig that last one!Sandshrew 16:41, 24 July 2010 (EDT)

While looking at the "Redecos as exclusives" section...
[edit]Well, it finally happened. I never thought it would, and it DID take almost a decade for one from Hasbro directly, but there are two exceptions to the rule that exclusives don't get entirely new molds from scratch. I'm specifically talking about BotCon Oilmaster and PoTP Punch/Counterpunch, neither of whom had their toylines fall out from under them because they were always intended to be released in that way. I don't know how we can fit it in the existing paragraph without making it extremely clunky, but I think it's worth trying because these exceptions are rare enough that much like Aveo Swerve it's absolutely worth pointing out. Any thoughts on a good approach? Sky Shadow (talk) 07:50, 14 December 2018 (EST)
- I don't think either of those really counts. Oilmaster has a new shell, but everything else is reused and Punch has regular retail releases outside of the US. --Khajidha (talk) 08:06, 14 December 2018 (EST)
- I'll give you Oilmaster, but I'm reasonably confident - based on not-so-subtle hinting by Adam16bit in his FoTD review of Blast Off - that the Prime Wars Trilogy set of figures was always designed to be released in an exclusive fashion, and Hasbro Asia just... generally gets to do its own thing and shouldn't be counted as an intended outcome of Hasbro's toy development process?
