Talk:Remorse
"Hot Shot gets frustrated with how passively the other Autobots have been handling Prime's death, and goes to the teleporter room to meet with Hot Shot." ? --82.41.82.183 04:46, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
- He clearly meant to say "Leader-1 gets frustrated with how the other Leader-1s have been handling Leader-1's death, and goes to the teleporter room to meet with Leader-1." --FFN 06:04, 9 January 2008 (UTC)
Has anyone seen this updated dub?
[edit]I've been watching this series on Tubi TV, and at this point I noticed something that doesn't jibe with what's been written on the wiki. I keep reading that "The Unicron Battles" doesn't begin until episode 41, but Tubi has the new Unicron Battles intro along with new commercial bumpers start right here in episode 40! Furthermore, Smokescreen is suddenly called "Hoist" in this episode, but the wiki doesn't acknowledge this happening until episode 42. So I found a recording of the original broadcast, and now I understand:
It was changed! Fred had his first line extended from "Is there any way we can fix Optimus?" to add, "the way we fixed up Smokescreen? I mean Hoist?", which required starting the line sooner and made his speech overlap with the animation of him just crying. Red Alert's response was then rewritten some to fit in another mention of Smokescreen's deal, going from...
"I'm sorry. It can't be done. Optimus's body released its Spark when it blocked the Hydra Cannon's blast, and without it, there's no way we can bring him back. I wish there was some way we could, but we're just going to have to pull ourselves together and carry on without him."
to...
"No. I'm sorry, we can't. Optimus's body released its Spark when it blocked the Hydra Cannon. We saved Smokescreen's Spark and were able to reformat him into Hoist. I wish there was some way that we could but... we're just going to have to carry on without him."
And sure enough, in the next scene, "Try and be more careful, Smokescreen!" was replaced with, "Please, try and be more careful, Hoist." So at some point this episode had parts rerecorded to introduce Smokescreen's new name two episodes earlier; I think the metallic ring on the Autobots' voices even sounds different on the replaced lines. Now I've read that an earlier episode had one mention of Sparkplug's name corrected for a DVD release, and I gather that these official online streams are based upon complete American DVD sets, so I'm guessing that one of those DVDs is where those changes were first released. So is there anyone who owns the DVD that could confirm whether the Unicron Battles intro and Hoist's name now begin with "Remorse" and no earlier before I try editing all this onto a page, pretty please? -Bag of Magic Food (talk) 06:07, 20 July 2020 (EDT)
- Gosh, this is the first I've ever heard of this. I can confirm that this change is not on the original Kid Rhino DVD set of the series. Perhaps it could be on the Shout Factory set? - Chris McFeely (talk) 08:03, 20 July 2020 (EDT)
- Thanks for checking! Shout Factory does sound like a possibility, but I can't imagine why they'd wait so long to publish those vocal retakes. I was also a bit baffled when I watched the Generation 1 cartoon on Tubi last year, which presents the episodes in the order on Shout's discs, but the video seems to be from Rhino's original DVDs, with all the pre-retake animation mistakes and Rhino's meager attempts to fix a few, yet it doesn't include any of Rhino's new sound effects. The parts of the soundtrack that are known to differ between versions don't match what I've read about the Shout releases either, so there must be a third source in the mix that I have yet to pin down. -Bag of Magic Food (talk) 12:13, 20 July 2020 (EDT)
- Well, Rhino's audio alterations were only on the 5.1 audio tracks, the 2.0 stereo tracks were as normal (barring a few glitches), so that would likely explain that at least. - Chris McFeely (talk) 13:15, 20 July 2020 (EDT)
- SBGHaseo on Twitter has confirmed that these changes are present on the Shout Factory set! - Chris McFeely (talk) 13:43, 20 July 2020 (EDT)
