Why not Discharge? Why Discharge?

[edit]

Removed:

Though the gang-molded Siege Stakeout and Red Heat share a team affiliation in Generation 1 lore, Road-Police is instead gang-molded with Wheel Blaze. The reasoning for this has not been specified but can probably be attributed to Road-Police's classic fire truck teammate Discharge not having a name well-suited for children's toys.

The Micromaster 10-pack does not have any sort of pattern of combination partners being previously associated characters--all indications are that they just came up with individual identities for each figure, limited only by making factions match up. (In particular, Nightflight also has an obvious potential partner--Tailwind, the missing fourth member of the Air Strike Patrol--but got partnered with Slyhopper instead.) If we say for the sake of argument that there's some need to explain why the Rescue Patrol redecoes specifically aren't past teammates, it's equally likely that they started from the idea of redecoing Red Heat into Wheel Blaze and then chose Road-Police as his partner because Stakeout isn't a firetruck. (And even if we further assume that Hasbro specifically started from Road-Police, it's hard to see Discharge's name as an issue for the same multipack that gave us "Irontread" and "Slyhopper"--rather, if I had to guess at a culprit in that scenario, I'd point at the fact that Red Heat and Discharge have nearly identical color schemes.) --Andrusi (talk) 12:49, 11 December 2020 (EST)
