Talk:Rodimus (WFC)
David Willis cry!? Protoman is crying! Why is my Rodimus given yet another NAME. Good lord, I even brought this up at the Botcon 2010 Activision Panel. Protoman 00:02, 12 July 2010 (EDT)
- I imagine this occurred after some sort of metaphorical marketing car crash of not wanting to use "Rodimus" for some reason but not being able to use Hot Rod. Or some other marketing related reason they currently cannot tell us. --FFN 04:16, 12 July 2010 (EDT)
- I was thinking that they were going with Hot Rod and Hot Shot being dimensional counterparts, but then I remembered this guy. --199.90.28.195 07:46, 12 July 2010 (EDT)
Name?
[edit]He's called Hot Shot in the game, but apparently he's Rodimus in Exodus. Since Exodus was released before WfC, should this page be moved to Rodimus (Prime)? --Detour 20:36, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
- They were both released on the same day. —Interrobang 20:50, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
- Well... then I guess it falls into a debate of what's more notable. The DS game or the Exodus novel. --Detour 20:57, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
- I'd vote for Rodimus, personally. It was his name in Exodus, AND it was his originally intended name in War for Cybertron. -- Semysane 21:08, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
- I'd go for Rodimus, with the caveat that we change back to Hot Shot if toys or significant future fiction use it. —Interrobang 21:11, 28 July 2010 (EDT)
- I'm for Rodimus too. --Detour 22:14, 28 July 2010 (EDT)

Rodimus (Prime) is an awesome article name. Not as awesome as Moon (moon), but... --ItsWalky 01:22, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
- I know. In fact it's half the reason I wanted a move. --Detour 01:56, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
What on Cybertron? Rodimus is 'not mentioned in Exodus, only the non-canon Bumblebee at Tyger Pax. Alientraveller 04:56, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
- Well someone added storylinks to Exodus (and not just an anon or something either). I haven't read it myself, nor do I plan to since I hear it's pretty bleh. I just hope Prime makes use of Rodimus in some capacity so we can move this page ASAP. --Detour 19:06, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
- Oh, it was User:Michaelbayblows. Not exactly the most trustworthy in appearance. —Interrobang 20:28, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
In the Prime universe, ItsWalky and Protoman are the same person. --Khajidha 12:17, 29 July 2010 (EDT)
- Rodimus (Prime) that's awesome but then again the story is non-canon. -- CountFrankenBot 06:38, 31 July 2010 (EDT)
Hot Shots
[edit]So with the likelihood that the Prime Hot Shot toy is a new UT-style Hot Shot and not a Rodimus-style toy, do we start a new page for Hot Shot (Prime)? Or do we figger they could still be the same guy, given differences in style between the games and the television show. --ItsWalky 16:32, 21 January 2012 (EST)
- I'd go with the latter. The "styles change between video game and cartoon" thing is quite prominent with a lot of characters. Heck, WFC Hot Shot and Prime Hot Shot probably have more in common with one another than Soundwave's different versions do. --Detour 16:41, 21 January 2012 (EST)
- I think we should at least wait till we get a bio for the Prime Hot Shot toy. Though, really, I wouldn't expect an homage to UT Hot Shot to act all that different from an homage to G1 Hot Rod, since both were typical action-seeking youngster types who got into trouble and acted like kid appeal bots anyway. So, it could be another "radically-different new body" case like Breakdown. --Sabrblade 16:46, 21 January 2012 (EST)
Rodimus or Hot Shot?
[edit]Many feel that since Rodimus got a bio for the Transformers Hall of Fame which usually includes the Aligned continuity we could consider Hot Shot a totally different character. Is there any truth to this? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 76.202.14.218 (talk • contribs){{#if:| {{{2}}}|}}.
- I don't think we can tell that from a HOF bio, and the article doesn't really link Hot Shot to Rodimus anyway other than a couple of notes, one of which is about a non-official story. --abates 00:00, 8 May 2012 (EDT)
- Hmm, I don't see this guy becoming Rodimus Prime(er..Prime) anytime soon, so unless we have a clear statement that these two are different characters, I'm fine with having them as the same dude on the same page.----201.167.43.124 03:17, 9 May 2012 (EDT)
- We could call him Shotimus Prime?71.162.99.173 12:15, 1 September 2012 (EDT)

Relationship with Arcee?
[edit]Where's that from? I can't find the source. --abates 18:53, 22 August 2012 (EDT)
- Was Hot Rod ever a Hall of Fame nominee? If so, the bio from that would be my guess. --ItsWalky 12:43, 1 September 2012 (EDT)
WFC
[edit]Should this not be at Hot Shot (WFC)? --flicky1991 03:37, 23 July 2013 (EDT)
- Good catch. There's a few of these that didn't ever get moved back. Jalaguy 07:11, 23 July 2013 (EDT)
Split
[edit]Okay, so, with the release of Retribution, we have a non-apocryphal usage of the name Rodimus. Yes, there's still technically nothing preventing them being the same character, but can't we be sensible about this, in the same way that Fireflight (FOC) and Air Raid (WFC) weren't on the same page despite them sharing a name once? Rodimus (WFC) would be the DS game and Retribution, Hot Shot (Prime) would be the script reading and the toy. Thoughts? Jalaguy (talk) 13:08, 16 March 2014 (EDT)
- Except that the Hot Rod/Rodimus-esque character from the DS game was named "Hot Shot" in the game too. If we were to split, since Retribution is the only official piece of Aligned fiction to have a guy named "Rodimus", he'd probably be rendered his own character separate from both the WFC DS and Prime Hot Shots. Like "Rodimus (Prime)" or something (since, according to the Retribution page, all new characters introduced in the book get a (Prime) tag). Or at least, that's how I'd see it. --Sabrblade (talk) 17:11, 16 March 2014 (EDT)
- Surely it's not too big a leap to say that the guy who looks like G1 Rodimus and has concept art labeled 'Rodimus' is, in fact, the same guy as Rodimus? We even have a note on here from Aaron Archer saying of the game character: 'yeah, it's Hot Rod with a new name.' Jalaguy (talk) 17:51, 16 March 2014 (EDT)
- Then we might as well keep them as one dude since the BotCon 2010 Activision panel said that they called him "Hot Shot" since they couldn't use the name "Hot Rod" but want to tell how he becomes Rodimus later, meaning that they wanted "the guy who looks like Hot Rod but isn't named Hot Rod" (Hot Shot) to be the guy that becomes Rodimus later in life. If anything, I'd think Retribution fumbled by calling him "Rodimus" at a time in his life when he shouldn't have that name yet. --Sabrblade (talk) 18:08, 16 March 2014 (EDT)

- I am in favor of splitting them in a way that makes sense to most people and not keeping them together just to be butts. --ItsWalky (talk) 02:18, 17 March 2014 (EDT)
Split revisited
[edit]Okay, so, I've mocked up split articles here and here. Thoughts? Jalaguy (talk) 05:46, 26 June 2014 (EDT)
Hall of Fame
[edit]Since this guy is essentially Hot Rod under a new name why doesn't he have the hall of fame sigil in the corner? If we're considering the DS and toy versions the same guy then this guy is just two characters lumped together (not the first time that's happened) and that would still leave this guy as a Hall of Famer due to being a new Hot Rod/Rodimus incarnation. On the other hand if we're not considering him a hall of famer due to the Hotshot part, then perhaps we need to split the page since the DS version is still quite clearly Hot Rod without the name (and reading some of the other parts of the talk page, there is at least one piece of fiction that has called him Rodimus).--BlackStarscream (talk) 14:43, 25 June 2014 (EDT)
