Talk:Rung (G1)

Hey, I've been rereading Eugenesis, and Rung is referenced by Soundwave in it as a psychologist. I was wondering what our policy is for a case like this, where a character originates in what is technically fanfiction and then graduates to official canon. Does this merit a mention? --Nu-Priest 11:56, 31 May 2010 (EDT)

There is this: Fandom#Adopted_fan_terminology. However, I don't think that's exactly the case here, more like an author canonizing his own work. Maybe a trivia note on this page.--Jimsorenson 12:00, 31 May 2010 (EDT)

I found Rung elsewhere

[edit]

In Transformers: Drift issue 4, when Dai Atlas is sending the city to attack, Rung appears among the crowd. lobythelegend 21:39, 2 July 2012 (EDT)

Rung was designed by Alex Milne. Alex Milne drew the Drift miniseries. Milne's designs tend to share certain elements. The end. - Cattleprod 23:19, 2 July 2012 (EDT)
So does this mean this should be added to the main article? Something like Sometime during the war, Rung was part of the Circle of Light and went to attack the alien slavers when Dai Atlas decided to? Ed 12:13, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
No. Also, 'where? I just checked the scene in question and have found no one who looks even remotely like Rung. --Detour 12:40, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
When Dai Atlas just got the city out of the ground and shouting "Cybertronians! For Crystal City!" Ed 12:52, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
Yeah, thanks Captain Obvious. I mean where in the scene. I looked it over and there is no sign of Rung or anyone that looks even slightly remotely close to being ressembling Rung even when you're half-blind and squinting and in the perfect light of the winter solstice. --Detour 13:00, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
The guy next to Dai Atlas' kneeling leg. One leg is bent, right? The one thats red and orange. Ed 13:05, 3 July 2012 (EDT)
...That guy doesn't look a damn thing like Rung. The head is completely different, the body construction is completely different, the kibble is completely different, the only things even remotely close to being similar are some aspects of the coloration and the circle in the chest. --Detour 13:08, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

Detour is right, Drift issue 4 was out Oct 2010 and Milne's concept art is signed 2011. Milne also states on his Deviant Art page that this was for approval for James Roberts (i.e. for Chaos Theory/ MTMTE not the Drift mini-series). Besides that can't be Rung, he has no eyebrows!

Ok, I guess I got the wrong guy. Ed 14:16, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

Something's up

[edit]

Okay, I apologize for this if it's marked as speculation and therefore removed, but there's some details about Rung that aren't on the wiki that I think deserve to be, but I don't know where best to put them. The guy has an ID code of 1,000,000 exactly, something marked as impressive by Red Alert. He's somehow spent at least 6 million years healthy and safe until Cyclonus sliced his arm off miraculously clean, and Ratchet finds it remarkable. He seemingly has a brighter spark than Rodimus "Ex-Matrix Bearer" Prime. Obviously, none of this stuff will be elaborated on until Roberts decides to elaborate on them, if ever. To me, it's all pretty darn weird put together like that. 24.11.110.62 17:15, 3 July 2012 (EDT)

I agree, Rung seems way too important just to kill off so quickly, I suspect there is more to the story yet to come. That is just speculation of course but the fact that he has been around so long, has been so lucky (up until MTMTE at least) makes me think these points are clues to something greater...Mister Jazz 11:24, 8 July 2012 (EDT)

Psy-ops?

[edit]

Where (other than this article) is he referred to as a psy-ops specialist? Looking back through his appearances, I'm constantly seeing him referred to as a psychologist or psychiatrist, not psy-ops - ie, he's concerned with the mental welfare of the Autobots, not with propagandizing Decepticons and Neutrals, or attempting to demoralize the Decepticons.Kamino Neko 06:31, 7 December 2012 (EST)

I was just copying from the earlier version when I made the newer intro, so if there's no mention of him being psy-ops anywhere, feel free to change the hell out of it. --ItsWalky 08:56, 7 December 2012 (EST)
Yeah, since I can find no reference to Psy-ops in the book, or the linked material, I'm going to change that. Kamino Neko 09:36, 7 December 2012 (EST)

Alt Mode

[edit]

The article makes mention of the uniqueness of Rung's alternate mode, but does nothing to demonstrate it. As I have neither the equipment to scan comics nor the familiarity with the IDW continuity to know where the best glimpse of Rung in his alt mode can be found, I leave the matter of dealing with this (or electing not to) to more capable hands. Nemesis Primal (talk) 01:08, 29 March 2014 (EDT)

The issue it appears in isn't covered by the article yet. I'll just leave this here anyway. --abates (talk) 01:25, 29 March 2014 (EDT)
Thanks for handling that. Consider yourself lauded. Nemesis Primal (talk) 00:04, 31 March 2014 (EDT)

New Main pic?

[edit]

There's gotta be a better full-body shot of Rung somewhere. Heck, that panel of him whistling on his scooter would make a better main pic than the "I just got strangled" pose. --Nu-Priest (talk) 15:21, 18 March 2015 (EDT)

Just bringing this up again...there's gotta be a better shot of Rung somewhere. The current main pic feels like a placeholder. Any takers? --Nu-Priest (talk) 19:22, 5 February 2017 (EST)
The only full body picture is in MTMTE 38 when he's captured by the Functionalists. Shywarp (talk) 22:03, 12 February 2017 (EST)

Duplicated Rung

[edit]

Rung's history currently states that when the Lost Light duplicated, Rung was not actually duplicated along with it due to being Primus. However, this isn't actually stated anywhere in the comics, isn't noted in the trivia for slaughterhouse, and actually would seem to be contradicted by the fact that Rung vanishes along with the rest of the original Lost Light crew as they get close to the duplicate ship (not to mention the fact that explicitly both ships are the original and neither is the duplicate, because quantum). Is there a source for this that just isn't being cited, or is this speculation that worked its way into the page? -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 20:45, 8 March 2020 (EDT)

Thanks to Grum for providing a source; I've updated the page to clarify what happened (or rather, what didn't happen) and include the proper citation. -- Dark T Zeratul (talk) 18:47, 12 March 2020 (EDT)

Episodes

[edit]

The formatting for the episodes/comics in Rungs page are formatted oddly, as being just links rather than in the small boxes they normally appear in, and I've seen this in a few other places. Is that a design choice or something that needs to be fixed?SkywarpsTwin (talk) 10:24, 14 September 2023 (EDT)

Do you mean the storylinks? Because they show up in their little boxes for me. Probably an odd glitch with your computer. Purge your cache and reload the page. --Khajidha (talk) 08:01, 15 September 2023 (EDT)
