Dark of the Moon

[edit]

Not really a rumor: [1] --ItsWalky 22:11, 18 October 2010 (EDT)

Whoops. Anon said it was a rumor, so... I took it as such. Don't worry, I'll put it back in. --Detour 22:21, 18 October 2010 (EDT)
Technically that isn't the type of thing that would be in the "Notes" section. Neither is the "Shockwave will be the main villain in The Dark of the Moon. That should be in the "Fiction" section. - Starfield 22:27, 18 October 2010 (EDT)
Uh, no it isn't. Fiction covers fiction. Not news about fiction. --Detour 22:28, 18 October 2010 (EDT)
News about fiction? I didn't think the wiki did that. - Starfield 22:33, 18 October 2010 (EDT)

Shouldn't Dark of the Moon version of Shockwave have his own article? I don't he's the same Shockwave we know from Transformers: The Game. --CAJH 12:08, 22 October 2010 (EDT)

Sorry for updating my previous message. I wrote accidently Starfield's user name. But it's fixed now--CAJH 12:08, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
The Optimus Prime from the G1 cartoon isn't the same as the Optimus Prime from Hearts of Steel, but they don't have separate articles. Generally speaking, no character gets more than one article per continuity family. -- Semysane 05:43, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
Yeah. We might have to refocus the article on the DOTM portrayal, but there's little point in separating out the game version. —Interrobang 06:39, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
There is precedent for separating out a video game character with a later major motion picture character in Sideswipe (Movie) and "Sideswipe (ROTF)". - Starfield 11:13, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
Which leads me to ask why those are separated in the first place. --Khajidha 13:03, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
Looks like the talk page was lost. There was a discussion on it. I was against separate articles. - Starfield 13:18, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
I thought I remembered a discussion there! I think it was a case of author intent trumping the lack of canon. Not sure that that is a good guide in situations like this, though. A video game is not always developed as a piece of fiction (which we are treating them as). --Khajidha 13:39, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
The situations are different. The fundamental concept of both versions of Shockwave is the same. The Sideswipes are... two guys with the same name, one without much of a personality. If you wanted to merge the two, I don't think anybody would really care at this point. —Interrobang 14:39, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
Agreed Interrobang, I mean they're both purple one-eyed Decepticon scientists. Who's to say he didn't pay a visit to Earth before 2011, I mean we barely saw what the Autobots did before getting to the Hoover Dam... Alientraveller 16:52, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
We don't have to try to make the events of a video game fit in with the movies. The events of the video games already don't fit in with the movies. Shockwave didn't have to pay a visit to earth 2011 for him to make sense on this page, it just means in one microcontinuity he did something differently than in most. --ItsWalky 17:53, 22 October 2010 (EDT)
If the 3D Battle Card Swerve and the ROTF Sideswipe retool Swerve can both be considered Swerve, I really see no reason why the Shockwave from the first movie's tie-in games and this Shockwave can't be considered the same. And I believe the same thing for the first PSP game's Sideswipe and ROTF Sideswipe. --Detour 18:04, 22 October 2010 (EDT)

Wikipedia says his toy is a Voyager and is a Cybertronian tank.—TOM 15:03, 24 January 2011 (EST)

Wikipedia does not keep to the same stringent requirements that we do for sources. No official sources have said what his toy will be, so we WILL NOT LIST IT. --Khajidha 15:12, 24 January 2011 (EST)
This very wiki is unofficial!—TOM 15:20, 25 January 2011 (EST)
Have we ever claimed that this wiki was official in the first place? And how many times have we said about citing official sources when it comes to upcoming materials? Wikipedia doesn't count, and even they have to cite official sources at a later point. Why do you think their articles occasionally have "citation needed" marks next to certain phrases? --Lonegamer78 16:12, 25 January 2011 (EST)
I really don't get how you can't put unofficial stuff on an unofficial website, but OK, I'll follow the rules. Sorry for any problems.—TOM 20:09, 27 January 2011 (EST)
While the website is unofficial, it is our policy to only cover official material. --Khajidha 20:29, 27 January 2011 (EST)
Then makes me wonder about Unofficial conventions.—TOM 16:11, 1 February 2011 (EST)
Ad BotCon 2004.—TOM 16:12, 1 February 2011 (EST)
Those are significantly different. Those aren't unofficial, stolen Transformers information, they're unofficial fan gatherings, one of which later became an OFFICIAL fan gathering. -- Semysane 16:35, 1 February 2011 (EST)

Are we still saying the "mysterious robot" that cameoed in ROTF is the same Shockwave that will be in DOTM? It doesn't look like the same guy. Maybe we have to wait and see if it is plausible for him to have been on Earth in 2009. - Starfield 20:23, 16 February 2011 (EST)

if it's not plausible, what's gonna happen to that section? Item42 12:58, 8 March 2011 (EST)
Same thing that happens to all of the other stuff that doesn't make sense in the movies. It stays there. We make a note or something. --ItsWalky 12:59, 8 March 2011 (EST)

Shockwave (DOTM)

[edit]

Should this actually be "Shockwave (Movie)"? He didn't appear canonically in the movie franchise, only in the non-canonical game. Same with a lot of others. But this is open to perspective. i.e. The first game's drones are canon because nothing disputes this. Shockwave isn't because DOTM and all related material dispute this. On another different topic, shouldn't everyone in the movies be "Laserbeak (Movie) Soundwave (Movie) etc. just like in the unicron trilogy. Why not put "Optimus Prime (Armada), Optimus Prime (Energon) or Optimus Prime (Cybertron). Most of the movie characters are canon to the movies. Arcee showed up in first-movie related material but Soundwave did not. However, he is part of the movies. As the movies are a trilogy they should all have the suffix "Movie". It may not make sense, but some people will see my point. --82.39.157.220 15:10, 18 August 2011 (EDT)

Yes, it should actually be Shockwave (Movie). Games are not non-canonical, everything is canon to some degree. He showed up in the video game first, he's under (Movie), that simple. Just like it's Thundercracker (Armada) even though he didn't get a fictional appearance until the Cybertron cartoon. --Detour 15:34, 18 August 2011 (EDT)

Hand Rotation

[edit]

The back of the box looks more like it was badly photoshoped to look rotated than actually being rotated.--Primo 15:08, 19 August 2011 (EDT)

Fusion Tank

[edit]

I think the missle launcher can detach from the lower part of Shocky's trailer to be a handheld weapon for larger figures. There's a 5mm post on the bottom, but the part doesn't detach as easily as on the Cyberverse Megatron trailer. I honestly don't want to risk breaking the toy, so I didn't mention it on the actual page Riddlerj 22:59, 25 August 2011 (EDT)

Lines.

[edit]

I was watching DOTM with the subtitles on, and according to them, besides "Optimus", he also says "Driller-bot is thirsty". Should we note that. Also intresting is Driller is called driller-bot by Shockwave. Maybe thats his(drillers) name? (184.56.19.73 15:02, 26 November 2011 (EST))

It's a mess-up by the subtitle transcriber. There's plainly no dialogue spoken, just a load of gnashing noises. - Chris McFeely 15:29, 26 November 2011 (EST)
It wouldn't hurt to have a note in the notes on Driller's page that Shockwave called him driller-bot in the hearing-impaired version. Mess-ups are canon, too, no? - Starfield 15:45, 26 November 2011 (EST)

Image

[edit]

At the end of page there is a detail of the first image could I delete it?

No. That image is there to illustrate the note about Shockwave's mouth, which can't be seen very well in the larger picture. --Khajidha 14:39, 12 March 2012 (EDT)

Merchandise

[edit]

Shouldn't there be a Merchandise section to this article? I believe there were a few Shockwave related items released outside of the general Dark of the Moon toyline. The Burger King toy comes to mind. RazorSlash 15:44, 17 March 2012 (EDT)

Are they serious that the robot in ROTF was Shockwave? They say the robot was sucked up by Devastator, so Shockwave would already be dead if he was actually that robot. --Soundwave13 16:19, 21 July 2012 (EDT)

Yes. The fact that a newspaper featuring Shockwave on the front page being sucked into Devastator totally means the REAL Shockwave was sucked up by Devastator. --Detour 16:31, 21 July 2012 (EDT)

Shockwave official acknowledgement?
