Talk:Side Swipe (Armada)
Unless the bulk of the stuff I've seen on Google is incorrect, his name is "Sideswipe". All one word.
- I can't believe there's nothing on this page yet that talks about the name change. Halfway through Sideswipe's production run, Hasbro decided to call anything "Sideswipe" "Side Swipe," since (reportedly), that's how they filed for the trademark? Hrm. Something like that. Anyway, yes, most of the images on Google are of the first-run packaging. (I tried searching for the Side Swipe packaging once.) His name was "corrected" later. --ItsWalky 23:34, 11 February 2007 (UTC)
I suppose that explains it, then.
This is based on nothing more than conjecture, but I think the names of Armada Side Swipe and Armada Wheeljack might have been switched at some point in their development. Wheeljack is, in appearance at least, a full-body design homage to G1-Sideswipe, and his wiki makes note of this. However, Armada Side Swipe seems to also be some sort of subtle G1-Wheeljack homage himself, seeming to reflect a younger version of the character, at least his head does. A black helmet, a set of three head ridges, set at slightly diverging angles, A grey face with blue optics, and most importantly: tiny stub versions of G1-Wheeljack's trademark ears. He doesn't have his faceplate yet, and he's wearing some stylin' sunglasses, but whatever. He's G1-Wheeljack in his younger, more socially awkward days. The two characters were introduced in the same episode, and therefore the names might have easily been mixed up on the script, but this mix-up would really only make sense if the episode was written after the two designs were ironed out, but before packaging and toy-bios were done up.
Just a thought. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Oversteer (talk • contribs).
Vehicle Mode?
[edit]Is it just me or does Sideswipe's vehicle mode resemble the Nissan Silvia S13? If so then this may put the continuity out of whack since unless Sideswipe went to a JDM convention he wouldn't have access to one since the S13 was made from '89 to '94. MaximalChill 16:30, 27 November 2017 (EST)
- Without getting into whether he looks like that car or not, I fail to see how it would be a problem. Cars don't magically disappear after production ceases. Having an altmode that looks like an older car wouldn't affect continuity at all. --Khajidha (talk) 11:42, 28 November 2017 (EST)
Huh.Somehow I said this when I meant to say "the Silvia is pretty rare herein the us". I guess it goes up to me being scatterbrained, sorry.MaximalChill 15:24, 4 December 2017 (EST)
