Talk:Sludge (RBA)
Deletion
[edit]I understand that Hasbro, during these last years, has tried to ignore or at least to cut the links with the old Aligned Games, but if there are separate pages for Sideswipe and Grimlock, I don't get why can't also exist separate pages for Snarl and Sludge. Just think about it. There are many reasons.
1) According to the RBA cartoon these guys and RID Grimlock are old friends; we know perfectly that this Grimlock is a former Decepticon, so this friendship doesn't make much sense because the Lightning Strike Coalition hated Decepticons and loved to slaughter them.
2) The cartoon makes highly implicit the fact that these dudes are natural Dinobots, not ordinary (genetically modified) Cybertronians.
3) In other universes (like the 2005-2018 IDW continuity) there are characters similiar in body shape and even with the same name (examples: "main" Sideswipe and the new-born Sideswipe, Tall Tankor and Fat Tankor, Eukarian/Maximal Shockwave and "main" Shockwave, Micromaster Barricade and cop Barricade, Micromaster Blackjack and Stunticon Blackjack etc.)-I know it's for marketing reasons but this doesn't change the fact that these characters are not the same guys.
4) It's not the first time that there are big plotholes and discrepancies in the Aligned contnuity. We know perfectly that this is not a coherent universe, so I think it's pretty useless trying to tie-in everything in a singular thing.
Please, before the deletion of these pages I invite you all to examine and to consider what I wrote. If you have major and more relevant reasons (different from mine) that could lead to the deletion of these pages, then It pleases me to hear and to reflect on them. Thank you. --Grievous Prime (talk) 08:19, 23 January 2021
- I reverted your edits because splitting characters off is a matter that requires discussion before doing so, especially when we've all just accepted them as being the same character for the last year. Next time, wait for other people to give their input first. -- Cyberlink420 (talk) 10:12, 23 January 2021 (EST)
- While I think Grievous makes some well-derived points, the fact remains that it's just as likely that RBA is just inconsistent with other works as much of Aligned media is. I think the best option is to reach out to some Boulder writing staff on Twitter and see if they have any input. Until then, maybe it would be a good idea to have a note on the main FOC Sludge page noting the discrepancies?Star Spangled Sam (talk) 10:24, 23 January 2021 (EST)
- Ok Cyberlink, forgive me if I didn't consult you and other users first. Anyway, I totally agree with Star Spangled about the notes in Sludge and Snarl's FOC pages until we have clearer informations.--Grievous Prime (talk) 13:29, 23 January 2021
